1350k Underworld..... So many choices...

Post by ulvardar »

Hi all, next november i will attend a tourney where i will play with Underworld.

You are given 1350k TV and you can spend it as you want, no limits apart of the usual costs(20k, 30k and so on)

What i was considering:

Troll
2 blitzers
2 throwers
2 linerats
6 gobbos
Skitter Stab-Stab
3RR

Skills.- Claw to the troll (20), M. Blow to both blitzers (40), Leader to a thrower (20), Guard to a goblin (30), Dauntless to a goblin (30)

That's what i have sure. 14 players, 4 RR, a stabbing gutter runner, 3 M. blow (one with claw), and a nasty goblin surprise.

That makes 1300k, what should i use the rest? 2 headed gobbos? Something on the linerats? Not really sure about linerats, wrestle and tackle look cool for them, but it's putting too much money on such a weak players. Maybe tackle for blitzers?

I'm not too sure, can you please advice me? And would you change something on my chosen skills or players? I'm considering to drop a RR to take more skills, would you do it (it would mean 6 more simple skills in the team)?

Drop the linerats. They die like goblin and are a lot less mobile.
If lacking a double skill I could take 1 for the Dirty Player.

I currently play with 2 blitzer (MB, Horns), Troll (Claw) , 1 thrower (block) and goblin all the way to 16 (2-3 DP ).
I'm enjoying some success and they are very funny.
Horns on a blitzer is a lifesaver very often.

In general if you put in all the skavens you don't know if you should protect goblins with skavens (skaven lineman suck at this) or skaven with goblins (your goblins die and then you lack too much mobility to do something).
And even with 14 players, if you foul much you risk not beginning the 2nd half with 11 guys.
With this team I average 10 to 12 fouls a game.

This is my way to the Underworld. Hope I helped. :)

Is it limited to 1 skill per player or as you say is it unlimited?

If unlimited you would want a Claw piling on mighty blow blitzer or 2.

Here is what I would consider:

Troll: Guard (another option is Tentacles)
2 Stormvermin: 2xGuard
2 Throwers: Block, Leader
2 Linerats: 2xWrestle
7 Gobbos: 7x2-Heads
Apoth
3RR

I believe the key to Underworld in tourneys is 2-Heads on the Gobbos, sadly few formats allow this (you need skills on the 7 positional players first). It makes the team very dynamic, always able to create a scoring threat, dangerous on the counter-attack, and lethal if the ball is spilled. It protects the team a lot as the Gobbos are able to keep out of contact when they want to. The above team is surprisingly blocky.

I tried Claw on the Troll in a tournament, it did not work once in 6 games.

Let us know how you get on! All the best.

Drop two heads of a couple of goblins, and add big hand to 2 others.
Go anywhere on a 2+, pick up on a 3+, then off again.
Lovely!
