Chaos Cup Chaos Dwarf Team

Post by Nuffle_Hate_Me »

All,

I'm looking for helpful suggestions, alternatives and and tips for my roster for Chaos Cup

Team Build Rules:
- 1,000,000 gp (purchase players, re-rolls, fan factor, coaches, and cheerleaders, NO: Wizards, Journeymen, Special Play cards, and Mercenaries)
- 150K gp in skills on top of that
- Up to 2 skills a player
- No more than 4 of the same skill per team
- Can't take the Leader Skill at all

So that works out to one of these options:
- 7 normal Skills
- 1 Doubles and 6 Normal Skills
- 2 Doubles and 4 Normal Skills
- 3 Doubles and 3 Normal Skills
- 4 Doubles and 1 Normal Skills
- 5 Double Skills

My thoughts so far

Build "A"
2 x Bull Centaurs (2 x Block, 1x Break Tackle)
6 x Chaos Dwarfs (3 x Guard)
4 x Hobgoblins (1 x Sure Hands)
2 RR
1 Cheerleader
1 Asst Coach

Build "B"
2 x Bull Centaurs (2 x Block)
4 x Chaos Dwarfs (3 x Guard)
4 x Hobgoblins (1 x Sure Hands)
1 x Minotaur (Block or Guard)
2 RR
1 Cheerleader

I might leave the hobgoblins naked and add sure hands to the Block only Bull

Mine would be

Build "C"
2 x Bull Centaurs (2 x Block, 1x Sure Hands 1x Break Tackle)
6 x Chaos Dwarfs (3 x Guard)
3 x Hobgoblins
2 RR
1 FF
1 Apo

Bulls are you best players so blocking both is a given, one with SH to act as you ball carrier and the BT one is a very mobile blitzer

3 Guard goes without saying

I prefere the apo to the 4th Hob, the apo can save a BC or CD which is much better value then a 4th Gob. But thats just me

My thought is this, I will be attempting to grind out 8 turn scores and so many other coaches will be attempting the same thing that the Apo only really helps if its early in the game. If its in the second half you will alomst never seen them again anyway unless you do it on a KO.

But it's not as if you could bring a reserve on any earlier so having a 12th player doesn't give any advantage in that situation.
The apo also gives the advantage of being able to keep a KO on the field, very useful for the bulls.

The 12th Player is a guaranteed body

Apo Fails 50% of the time on Serious Injury or Death, so I would almost never use it for this, odds are not in favor of this. And tehy are still out fo the rest of the drive even when it passes.

It is however automatic on a BH or KO though, KO begin the better option in the right situation

But ur 12th player is you weakest player

I prefer the risk to keep a CD or BD on the pitch rather than a Hob

but each to their own

The way I look at it the least expendable players on the team, the Bulls, are also the Hardest to take out, Block, ST4, AV9. I even consider the Chaos Dwarfs to be expendable. It's a 1.54% (no MB ) or 2.6% (with MB) to get an injury on a Bulls assuming they can get in a 2 Die block, and its no picnick to get a 2 Dice Block an ST4 with 3 Guards.

So the choice is do you risk being out numbered with 2 Bulls which will be the case most of the time, since I would reserve the APO only for the Bulls. Or Risk the hits on the Bulls ans hope they hold out and try to outnumber your opponent which is far more likely.

With compact teams like cd its all about the TV on the pitch

A bull with 2 skills is worth 170TV
a skilled cd is 90tv
unskilled cd 70tv
unskilled hobb 40tv

so you lose a unskilled cd and replace him with a hob you are 30tv down, 50k if its skilled
If its a bull its a massive 130tv down.

To turn ur arguement around yes it is hard to inj a cd or bull but it happens.

You are then replacing it with a unskilled armour 7 player. If i was playing against cd the hobbos would be number one target every turn.

id always use the apo on the 1st injured cd/bc, even if it fails, which does happen you should be causing cas of ur own in return,

just my 2 cents

With High AV teams like CD's. I prefer the apoth to an additional hob, especially an unskilled hob.

and for those of you who want to try to bet that because of that AV they "probably" will be ok. Ask my last lizardman opponent who lost his Crox first turn to a skaven boot.

just my .02

The problem is that most coaches are going to target the Hobgoblins, not the Bulls, the risk/rewards just isn't there with a Bull carrying the ball surrounded by Guard. So when I have all 3 hobgoblins out of the game I will have 2 players left on the pitch that are higher than 4MA, and mostly likely will have a hard time winning a game at that point short of improbably bashing a team into the ground while massively outnumbered and the slow teams are just as bashy as I am.

If you lose 3 hobgoblins and haven't taken any opponents off the field you are in trouble no matter what roster you take
