Defensive setups for dwarves?

Post by waaght »

I always seem to throw my dwarves on the pitch more or less randomly, and have to scramble to catch up! So I'm wondering if people could post pictures of the defensive setups they tend to use with dwarves, say which teams that setup works against, and explain the reasoning behind it? It's all well and good to talk about defensive strategy, but I'd like to see some pictures of actual dwarven defenses! (Sorry if this question is too broad or generic, I'm not trying to troll, just looking for some help).

Disclaimer : I'm not that good with dwarfs, so take it for what it is :)

I tend to have a different set-up depending on my opponent and the skills on my longbeards.

If my opponent is going to play bash, I tend to leave the sidelines free.
I will try to draw it :

----|-------|----
----|--LLL--|----
----|-------|----
----|-------|----
---L|-B---B-|L---
--T-|-------|-T--
----|R-----R|----

Though it does vary a lot, the base is this, and I improvise around. Sometimes 1 step closer and even less spread, sometimes I try to block the sideline if i have some SF/DT, or if I expect a reasonable chance to get to the ball before he secures it (less players, I have kick, etc...) the runners are much closer

More or less the same. It's impossible to cover all the entrances, and you are spread so have a hard time catching them.
Maybe a bit more deeper, but you should be prepared to blitz one player, and put TZs on another, and hope they either fail to dodge out AND feel pressured enough that they wont stall.
Next drive you take it slow and waalk in the equalizer and/or winning TD.

This can get boring, so be warned. :)

All dwarves should be set up at least 4 squares from any other one. :D

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.
