Dark Elves & Assassins

Why the hate for the Assassin? Shadowing can be a useful skill on a ST3 player, and Stab gives you an answer to AV7 and lower Blodgers, like Amazons/Wardancers. A 20k increase over a lineman doesn't seem that bad, even with -1 AV.

I was considering a lineup like:

4 Blitzers
2 Witch Elves
1 Runner
1 Assassin
3 Linemen
2 RR

Assassin could be considered in tourney when we could choose to put a double on him (multiple bloc)

Shadowing on MA6 is a bit meh. Most players you want to be marking, and therefore shadowing, are faster so are likely to get away.

Putting Multi Block on an Assassin is, my opinion, a waste of time. You may get to use Multi Stab once if your opponent blinked and missed that you had chosen it. Then your Assassin is going to get splatted and/or you wont get two players next to him again.

In limited TV tournies you need to spend your gold on more useful players; even the Runner is more handy, but Blitzers and Witches are top priority. Your example is 110 and at even that level I think I'd rather have a 4th lineelf, or 2nd Runner, than an Assassin. They are just more useful.

I love the assassins in league and will field 2 on defense when possible

In a league, I found Assassins to be bipolar - against low armour teams they are usually great, but against high armour teams they are a liability. Thus I would not be tempted to take any in a tourney.

I would like them more if they were Mv7...

-Slow AND fragile (and expensive) is not good;
-Shadowing with MA 6 is nigh on useless;
-Lack of good core skills like Block/Dodge;
-Stab vs AV 7 Blodgers and stunties is good, but not against AV 8+, more common.

AV7 is not the biggest weakness of the Assassins, IMO. Rather, it is that they tempt you to stab when you shouldn't, thus wasting actions, and sharply reducing the mobility of the team. I freely admit that I fall for this temptation.

In a league, I like Assassins as inducements, then you can target the AV7 teams accurately (Skaven are best). I once managed to induce both Assassins plus Horkon, against Skaven. Priceless. Worth it for the psychological effect alone. Stabbing against AV9 is hopeless, against AV8 not much better, not even marginal IMO.

All the best.

AV7 sucks. Not so bad for tourneys if you are gonna struggle vs Woodies/Zons but then they are terrible vs Dwarfs Lizards and Orcs.

You played vs a cherrypicker in Ranked, Sir, not a meaningful example.
If you think that assassins are great make a Dark Elf team with 1 or 2, then play in the Box for a while and come back to write your impressions after some matches. :D

He played them great: always good protected when i had the initiativ etc...
then they made the job with at least a KO every 2nd stab...

well coached, and against specific rosters (as i say my amazones) assassins could be great.

Using the star player or inducing on against 7 ar or a team with lots of blodge is where I have had the most success. 7ar on him makes the assassin a juicy target

As listed they only have a 6 to add to the shadowing which is poor and av7 is terrible compared to a cheaper lineman. They give away positioning compared to blocking unless you actually penetrate Armour with stab.

(6ma shadow only gives boosts vs gobos, snots, orc throwers who are likely to dodge)

I too do not really like Assasins although if you were to take one in a Tournament and give him a skill would Leap be a better choice for Blitzing into cages, I mean Multi Block will only ever work once per match and then he gets hit, alot.
