Double on Orc thrower 2nd skill

Post by Chris »

Hello

On my OCC team
http://bbm.jcmag.fr/BloodBowlManager.We ... en&bg=orca

The thrower has a double for his second skill roll. A normal roll would have gotten him kick off return or leader.
He only plays when I receive and his job is to get the ball and take no risks, perhaps giving it to somebody else at some point.

Not taking dodge as bar the goblin nobody else has it.

So - strong arm? I generally throw if I am in trouble, but then not that far typically.

Jump Up considering how much time he spends on the ground when things go wrong?

Sprint for movement? But it is a bit risky.

Sure Feet for movement? Again encourages risk taking and it kills bull centaurs...

Don't see much point getting it on only one model, too easy to target?

Dodge is a great skill on throwers, the only other decent options for a double would be guard or MB.

Strong Arm is a complete waste, especially on Orcs.

Guard is a decent option as it will make it easier for other players to block markers away from him. Dodge isn't a bad option, either, as it means the opponent has to try to hit him with any tackle players to stand a decent chance of getting the ball away from him, limiting tactical options.

Dodge is the obvious choice for me, as he has Block as first skill.

If he had taken Accurate as first skill, then Strong Arm would be the obvious choice.

Hope that helps.

Dodge by a mile. Guard is unnecessary and Strong arm is forever pointless on an Orc team.

Definitely Dodge, as he is your main ball carrier, his first task is to pick up the ball and hold on it while keeping on his feet. Dodge perfectly fits that bill.

With this skillset you Thrower will also be useful on defense as you have no Sure Hands on a blitzer. The free RR to pick up a ball in a tackle zone is golden and having a free Dodge roll as you move out of that tackle zone is just the icing on the cake.

If your opponent is worth his mettle he WILL target this player, given the chance but you have some Stand Firm players to hide him behind. He would still be useful to lend an assist on the edge of the line, so he can avoid being marked, unless Both Block is rolled.

But I assume that you POMB players attract enough attention from your opponent, so that the thrower might not be his main concern, at first... :orc:
