I'll sound out the interest in Ireland the next week or so to see if we can put a team together. If we can't get 8 I'm sure we could pull the old Irish soccer team trick of drafting in all the English players with Irish Grandparents. Or failing that anyone who has drunk Guinness at anytime in their life!

I am sorry i tryed to get a team running, for most coaches is the location the main reasons. Germany will not particpate at the Eurobowl 2010 under my flag. And from my conversations from Bembel Bowl and B7, it does not look like any other 8 guys can form a team.

Doesn't look like there is enough interest for an Irish team. Well at least in Northern Ireland. Plus I don't want to start getting into the politics of if Irish Blood Bowl is defined along rugby lines or soccer lines! :-?

I have similar sad news.
There will also be no orange team this year. My goal wsa to get at least 6 dutch players there and I reached no higher than 4 .. not enough for a team.

I think some of them may well be there to play 'hired gun' or in teh solo tournament.

another sad day for Holland

As it's been known for some weeks, I have to say I didn't had the time to explain why we will miss this years Eurobowl.
1. The date: regarding the usual Eurobowl-date of first or second weekend in novembre, some of us have planned certain things like holidays and serious professional issues not to collide with Eurobowl. That's why the middle of octobre is a problem for us.
2. (and even more troublesome) The location: Sorry guys, the hotel might be nice to spend a holiday there but it is just off the road. Possible flights have to go via Geneva, London, Amsterdam, Birmingham or Dublin. Going by car or by train is not really an option for us either. So travelling there is far to expensive or troublesome to be convenient.

However, we will return to the Eurobowl next year.

Wow,with 3 nations dropping out this year among other things to reach the location that are sad news.....

Maybe for the future EBs the tournament should be located nearby a big city to plan easy travels.....

Just a small note: The dutch are most likely going to make it. Dave's post was a bit premature.

We will be needing two freebooters most likely though.

Really?

All I could find was via Paris, with a change of airport (De Gaulle to Orly).
It's a right PITA. If it was any tournament other than Eurobowl I would never have bothered with the hassle of getting to Biarritz.
As it is I'll be travelling for the better part of 14 hours iirc.
I fully understand the teams dropping due to the location.

Sorry, I forgot to mention Paris and it's airports (and possibly Marseille?). The consequence stays the same as connections via Paris are expensive as well.

May be this point will help the teams :
this eurobowl, only the captain has to be of the nationality of the country.
So due to the diffculty of the place and date, may be this rule change could allow some team to be present...

It does somewhat defeat the point of having a national team if just the one player on it is from that country. If that happens it isn't really the Eurobowl any more in my eyes.
