Here are some replies that have been PM´ed me.
I´ll post them here, as I believe that´s better for the discussion as a whole.

Flix:
i like it, bonus skills+++

But i would perform a random seed at the first game, thats much easier.
Geggster:
The things I would say have already been covered....

The draw for the first round would seem to give the Germans an advantage. If you want to seed it, why not rank all teams based on average EB position. That way Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Denmark and England will all play each other from the start and no-one gets a good start by thrashing a less experienced country.

No inducements other than bribes and chefs? Does this mean no stars? I would say that this means you would get no goblins and halflings anyway as stars are really useful for them.

Skills - I really liked the skills before day one and two, but if you want to do skills before each game (and an extra one/two from the start for the weaker races), then that's good too. I'd agree with Joemanji that DEs are better than tier two normally, but if you keep the skills as one per game, they probably deserve to be tier 2 (as do Necros).

Although I was against the captain's pick before the tourney, I liked it during the tourney. I do agree with you that it's practically random but it does get the captain's talking. I don't think it matters whether it's swiss, random or captain's pick. Choose whichever you like.
I enjoy the continued and constructive debate and will await further feedback from you all.

What I enjoyed most about it was when the france team (I think it was) spend around 10 min debating what team to put forward, and when they had picked one, topper just handed them our pile and said, go ahead just pick one at random ;) That had everybody laughing very hard :D and it also sums up very nicely what I think about captain pick ;) :smoking:

Concerning Skills system, I prefer having 3 on day 1 and 3 others on day 2. It's probably better if we want to see many different rosters rather than the 8 usual suspects. :)
Concerning teams and coaches pairing, last year system was good for its social aspect but IMO it took too much time before each round and was pretty random actually. I also had the impression that some coaches had to face the same races during all the week-end (Amazons/Dwarves, Lizardmen/Wood Elves, etc...). So I wouldn't mind going back to the old system: swiss pairing for coaches.

I feel we´re beginning to see a structure her.
I ´ll wait a week or so more to see further feedback - and then discuss a new ruleset with my fellow danes before presenting it here for further debate.
So more or less last chance to influence the first rough draw :)

Thanks for this very early discussion.

The proposed ruleset seems fine, particulary the special rule for stunties ;) .

Nevertheless, I think you should keep 3 and 3 skill over the one skill per match system. This way you will give access to more diversity of rosters.
The advantage given to tiers 2 and 3 are cool, but I think dark elves has nothing to do in tier 2 . This is a powerfull roster played by an experienced player. In my mind it should belong to tier one.

Your idea for the 1st round draw seems interesting even if 2010 random draw showed us that it can be balanced. Using full swiss system for further rounds sounds ok for me. This improve competitive aspects of this tourney.

My suggestion for 2012.
As tie breaker, we already use TD diff and CAS diff.
Unfortunately, this tie breacker gives an advantage to slights rosters or team lineups.
Why don't we use the sum of oppenents points instead and secondary TD + CAS Diff for teams and for individual rankings?

This way, playing coaches with higher ranking will make the difference in case of tie to the end instead of TD easyly scored against weaker coaches.

Good luck for your organization.

Nico

I'm not sure I agree with the tiers.... http://naf.doubleskulls.net/jul_10.html Dark Elves are 4th on that list :o

http://naf.doubleskulls.net/races.html shows a ranking as if every race was played by 1 coach. The first column is the one you are most interested in.

These are the rules we consider using (first review)
These are the second suggestion we´ve come up with after hearing your arguments.
Just as with the first one, this is for you to discuss and give input to, so we´ll make as good a ruleset as possible – and hopefully one everyone likes.
The changes from the first suggestion are marked in red.

Basic Rules:
We play according to the LRB6 including the three new teams. As a starting point the four minute rule isn´t enforced. The referees can and will re-enforce this if they find that necessary for the flow of the tournament, either in individual games or in all remaining games as they see fit. They might even enforce three or two minute turns in extreme cases.

Teams:
All teams have 1.100.000 gp to buy a team. All the official races from LRB6 as well as Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld can be used. Goblins can buy 0-3 bribes at 50.000 and Halflings can buy the chef at 100.000. No other inducements are allowed for any races. No team values are ever calculated.

Start-skills:
The teams starts with skills according to this tier. Tier one gets zero starting skills, tier two gets one starting skill and tier three gets two starting skills.

Tier one
All races not in tier two or three

Tier two
chaos, Chaos Pact, Elf, High Elf, Human, Khemri, Nurgle, Slann (No Dark Elves, Chaos Added)

Tier three:
Goblin, Halfling, Ogre, Underworld, Vampire (Chaos moved to tier two)

Team development:
All games are played without post-match procedures and thus without winnings, player purchases etc. All injuries and earned star player points are waived after each game. So each game starts with the same players on the roster.

In the beginning of the pre-game sequence before round 1 and round 4 three skills may be assigned. These skills must be assigned to any player that has not yet gained a skill in the tournament. On day two when you may assign skills, one of these is given as if you had rolled a double on the skill roll, the rest of the skills must be available to the player on any skill roll.
Both coaches note down the assigned skill choice and the player getting the skill. Then they reveal the choices simultaneously. No player may have more than one extra skill.

Tournament format:
The tournament consist of six rounds. In the rounds the national teams of eight players are teamed up two and two.
Teams are paired by swiss-draw In round two -five. In the first round teams are paired according to their eurobowl result from the previous five years. Any teams that did not participate in a eurobowl before are put last and ranked at random. The winners face the runner up, the 3rd placed team face the 4th and so forth. The individual matchups are decided randomly in the first round and by swiss-draw thereafter.
1 point is awarded for a victory, ½ for a draw and 0 for a defeat. The team with most points when all eight games are played is the winner. The winning team gets a +1 point to their team score.
In the case of equal score between two countries the following tie-breaker is used.
Mutual game followed by sum of opponents points and if still even best (TD+cas)-score then Netto-score.

Paint and miniatures
Painted miniatures are not mandatory (though we urge you to do so). Those teams, that by the judges, are deemed painted (ie all miniatures are painted and flocked in a sufficient standard.) will get +1 Cheerleader and +1 Assistant Coach.
The miniatures doesn´t have to be original GW-minis. However the miniatures must be representative for the rosters race and players (ie a Norse thrower must look like a Norse thrower) and be easily recognizable from other positionals.

We urge you to use the following color coded bases:
Grey/none: Lineman
Red: Blitzer
Green: Blocker
White: Thrower
Yellow: Catcher

If your opponent can´t easily recognize the different players from each other, you must let him mark them somehow (without damaging the mini, DOH). This could be with bottle caps or colored rings etc.

How many skills though? I guess 3.

A doubles skill on both days is pretty huge IMO, I prefered just the one on day 2. Getting a doubles from the start is a big boost for some teams (e.g. those with a big guy).

You are absolutely right, and I have no idea of why I wrote that - and nobody noticed.
It is supposed to be a double on the second day.

So will be edited ATM
