The Immortals 2 (humans) - Da Shin Kikas 0

Expecting an easy result against maiden season human team, The Immortals, Da Shin Kikas dismounted from their team coaches unsteadily, disheveled and bleary-eyed, fresh from an end of campagin madcap-fungus-brew-and-cheerleaders binge.
The hangover caused Da Kikas no end of problems throughout the game, most crucially Boss Staggut confusing their playbooks and setting up the defensive 'Nett an Clubbas' formation at the start of the match when infact although the human coach won the toss, he elected his team to kick first.
Realising their mistake 'da Clubbas' scrambled from backfield to recover the ball and redeploy for somesort of offence but not quick enough, for legendary freelance blitzer Griff Obervald nipped through the gap left vacant by 'KO'd' Stone Troll Lichen ( put down by an elbow strike from Immortal's ogre Wargg, took the oppotunity for a much needed kip) and seized the ball.
'Da Clubbas' swarmed round Griff, now supported by acouple of The Immortals' own blitzers, in an attempt to hem in the human pocket but to no avail. As Obervald backhanded Hobo to the ground and headed to the Endzone to convert, Immortals' Blizter Filsch blocked Rik hard, sending him out of the game. Kikas' coach Staggut impressed upon the team apocathcary the importance of their star Runna's precence on the pitch for future drives and dispite medical safey, Rik was shot up with painkilling chemicals to join the toxic fungus by products still sloshing around his tiny frame.
Upfield, with no hope of effecting play in their own half, Blitza and bodybuilding enthusiast Bazza, joined by Linegobbo Buttas, embarked on a spree of blocking and fouling any human within reach, KO'ing Lineman Sentim with a leaping headbutt, kicking Immortals' n0 11 insensible on the ground ending with Bazza getting sent off performing a victory dance on another lineman's head, leaving a very lonly, very afraid Buttas deep in Immortals' territory.
At the other end of the pitch, Griff and co made it to the endzone but held off scoring, hopeing to play for time and keep possession long enough that the Goblins couldn't answer before The Immortals recived in the second half. But they didn't count on ( Orc ) coach Staggut's casual disregard for the lives of his ( Goblin ) players. Ogli was roused into picking up 'It-man' Pagga throwing him toward the Human cage but like his teammates the River Troll was somewhat worse for wear, the throw short, but the landing good, right between two Immortals' players that set about the unfortunate Gobbo, who was dragged away unconscious to the Rekovry Room
The Humans' gamesmanship got too much for Blitza Amrig who, looking around the backfield saw that only he was in any position to wipe the smile fron their pink faces. Summoning himself to his full height ( 4 ft 2) and bellowing a warcry of pure hatred he charged Griff.

Dazed but still conscious Amrig lept from the grass landing on Griff's back with such force and bile as to shock even as grizzled veteran as he, who stumbled forwards into the Endzone. The flags went up and ref called in it a touchdown, giving Da Kika's a few precious moments to try and level the scores before the second half.
Da Kikas this time set up appropriately, rousing Lichen from his slumber to prepare for a throwing play, Ogli and two linegobbos on the line of scrimmage, Rik( mumbling to himself and giggling ) behind Lichen and the rest of Da Kikas spread wide through the backfield to recover the ball.
The Immortals kicked the ball high to the left towards the quadrant covered by Fat Gob. Shifting himself with hereto unseen speed the tubby Linegobbo caught the bouncing ball and sprinted for all his lardy worth to Rik, handing off the ball before collapsing to his knees hyperventerlating.
Lichen reached down and picked up Rik, now singing softly to the ball and cradling it like a baby. Shrugging to himself Rukmuncha followed Da Plan, cobbing Rik who didnt change position in the air or on the ground, carving a deep furrow with his head. The Immortals' defencive players deployed too far forward to counter the throwing play, having not encountered it before, giving ample time for Rik to stand up, dust himself down, recover his presssscious ball, run it home to the Endzone and begin an elabrate touchdown celebration involving highkicks and cartwheels. As the half time whistle blew it occured to the addled Runna that something was amiss, seeing as how the Hummie fans were cheering him significally more than his own kind.
Wiith a sinking sensation Rik realized that he'd planted the ball five yards short of the score line and a rather cross looking coach was stalking towards him from the dugout holding 'Inkoragment' with real purpose....

For the second half Da Kikas set up in Da Arra formation, a wide tappered spread, in the hopes of making it hard for the Humans to find clear ground but in vain as Immortals' n0 5 thrower recovered their kick and long passed it to Catcher Lastia who had nimbley picked his way through joined by star freebooter Griff Obervald. The Kikas defence swarmed to meet the threat, most effectively Weetabix who blugeoned Lastia down with his lamentably blunt chainsaw. Kikas' fans' cheers were shortlived however as Griff lept to catch the loosened ball, but redoubled as Weety's return swing caught Obervald across the chest making him pass out in pain.
Hobo and Buttas ran in to form a green cordon around the grounded ball followed by Rik who dazed now from his half time 'Quiet Wurd' with coach Staggut aswell as narcotic comedown failed to pick it up.
At the half way line Immortals' Ogre Blocker Wargg's repeated bothering of troll double act Ogli and Lichen ( both of whom had decided on a quiet half for themselves) finally provoked a reponse, Ogli lamping him hard as the Ogre attempted to blitz.
Back at the ball an unusually equal ruck broke out with Rik sent flying by Immortals' lineman n0 9 while Fraksworf landed a drop-kick on n0 4 L/M Herma, fracturing the man's left leg. Weetabix sought to add his mostly trusty chainsaw to the mix and dodge out from further up the line but tripped, dropped his tool and was knocked out as the engine block landed on the back of his head before the blade bit into the turf and 'choppy' pulled itself along towards the stands at speed.
Immortals' Lineman Santien picked up his Gobbo counterpart Buttas and tossed him to the Human fans who performed some gruesome parady of crowdsurffing before throwing the little lineman back on the pitch every bone in his wee body broken. Rik soon followed but his greater turn of foot (and possibley the Human notion of shame at ruining such a harmless player as Buttas) allowed him to escape relatively unharmed.
Upfield Wargg's half arsed scrap with the trolls went on unabated, dispite having already been smacked back to the ground twice by an angering Ogli Marshbreath. At their feet Fat Gob yelped for the Trolls to stop hanging around the line of scrimmage and get involved in the game. Again Wargg got up from the grass, steeled himself but this time seeing an easier target for his frustrated wrath bore down on the chunky Linegobbo. With a roar Ogli rammed into the Ogre, Lichen, also irked by blatent bullying of a potential lunch, grabed the Ogre's arms pinning them. Fear turning to the vindictiveness Da Kikas and all Goblinkind are famed for, Fat Gob stopped quaking, jumped onto Wargg's belly plate drew a concealed flick knife, laughing manically as he plunged it into Wraag's throat, then dashing to his dugout before the ref or opposing players could react to his murderous assault. The Trolls spent the rest of the drive failing to look innocent and nonchanlant as the cooling body of Wraag Thunderfist lay on the ground beside them.
Away from the scrimmage felony Immortals' no 5 finally recovered the ball from the ruk, passed it to Listria, , handed it off to Blitzer Fisch who dodged away and ran it home to make the score two nil.

With only a quarter of the game left to play and ten Gobbos to play it, Da Kikas once more found themselves in a game they couldnt win or draw, left only to try and rescue something from the game (other than slaugtering Ogres who pick on the wrong guy).
The Immortals' kick landed tantalizinginly and infuritaingly close to the scrimmage line but it was no matter to Wud 'un Topp, Da Kikas' unnervingly accurate fanatic who ( used to an heroic intake of Mad Cap fungus and showing no ill effects from the party) cleared the Immortals front line away from the ball allowing Fat Gob (disguised with a moustache squig and large glasses) to nip in, retrieve the ball and hand it off to Rik. The lightweight Runna placed the ball on the ground, sat on it, started crowing and flapped his arms to the delight of The Immortals' fans and earning himself a lifetime ban from any future team functions.
Immortals' n0 1 Blitzter darted around the line of scrimmage and silenced Rik with a heafty block to allow their thrower to grab the ball but he proved less nimble than the Blitzer and ate dirt. Immortals' Blitzer n0 2 waded in but was stopped by Smak 'ed legging him up. It was now Amrig's turn to go for the ball. The doughty Blitza succeeded and ran to Lichen, imploring the Stone Troll to throw him upfield ,however Lichen and Ogli were both too busy practicing whistling to enchance their nonchalant act regardless of how unessessary it now was.
Covered in Troll spit and aware of time slipping away Amrig called Pustul and Not-Fat-Gob-'Onest to his side before embarking on a frantic running play up the wide zone.
Stung by the near success of a throwing play earlier, The Immortals' coach had Griff and Lastia hang deep. Now they scrambled to counter the breakout, Obervald collaring Amrig but not before he could throw the ball over his head, deftly caught by Pustul. The Katcha faked right and bolted left, running clear of any pursuers looking certain to score as the clock ticked out on the curtain downer of Da Kikas' campaign.
Sprinting for all his worth, cheered home by the loyal fans the excitment told on the rookie and the plunged to the ground, tripping over his own feet yards short of the line as the final whistle blew, a metaphore of his team's entire season.

Attention Kikas Fan/s!

The third season of the Volks' Haul Conference will be starting soon and with it the return of Da Shin Kikas team blog.
Also due to inovations at Kikas Towers and some instruction from the Boss Shaman/wife, there might even be a nice team 'photo', which you could prahaps print off and use for Hogswatch cards or summat. Should you be so inclined.
That reminds me of a joke but it's visual so don't worry about it.
But yeah - Kikas back soon.

Da Shin Kikas 2 --- Tollan Gods (Lizardmen) 2

Coach delays and adminastrative confusion granted Da Kikas a few days off mooching about and making free with cheerleaders and livestock until a team was found to play against in the first week. The Tollan Gods, who had arrived late during the last season, now aclimatized to cooler weather of the eastern Empire threw their metaphorical hats into the ring for an intresting opener.

Kikas' captain Bazza won the toss and elected to kick, hoping to halt the Lizzie offence at the only time that the Gobbos could be guaranteed eleven players on the pitch.
Gods' fans immidiately put the lie to that idea as a poisioned blowdart intended for Kikas' Bloka Ogli deflected off his warty hide and imbeded itself in Fat Gob's fleshy arm. Loaded with enough traquilzing venom to stun the troll it was only Fat Gob's inflated Body Mass Index that saved him, although the Linegobbo was comatose for several days.
Saurus Mextli tipped the scales further by badly hurting Lichen Ruckmuncha.
In reply Wetabix's chainsaw ripped through ball carrying and not-quite-caged-enough skink Xochpilli sending him out of the game.
Rikmund dodged through the throng of slow witted sauruses, snatching the ball before they figured out what was happening, giving the Trowa a chance to flee.
He was not quick enough though; the saurus cage quickly caught on, Atalcar roared and brought Rikmund down, mauling and rending him until a third Kikas player had to be dragged away by stadium staff.
Upfield Wetabix KO'd saurus Teox with the blunt edge of 'choppy' while Pustul, Hobo and Bazza pulled Gods' captain Huitzilopoch to the ground and fouled him unconscious.
Within the dense scrap developing at the half - way sideline skink Meya's hand off to his counterpart in the n0 9 vest ended up on the ground though was forgiven by Rik failing to rescue the dead ball.
Elsewhere in the ruck Skuttlebutt heroiclly lept on n0 4 saurus and although Skutty was wounded by a tail swipe the saurus landed badly and was knocked out. The Scrum boiled down the sideline until Maya finally secured the ball and bolted away for a touchdown.

Scant moments left opf the first half, Da Kikas formed up for a throwing play. Amrig gathered the kicked ball, handed it to Pagga. Ogli cocked his arm but lost his grip on Da Kikas' n05 who landed in a dazed heap.
Lizardmen massing and ball bouncing freely, Rik dived onto it, rolled clear and handed off to Frakswurf. Lichen (who felt well enough to play again after a lie down in Da Imerjuncy Room) threw Frakswurf towards the Endzone but he stumbled on landing seconds before the half time whistle blew.

Now receiving Bazza floored Maya before racing off upfield. Pagga and Pustul raced to mark the downed skink. Maya groggily tried to get up but Putul and Pagga's boots fractured his snout, broke several teeth and took out of the match.
Rik sprinted from the backfield, grabbed the ball, motoring to pass the ball off to Bazza. Spying Bazza hot-footing away Gods' Kroxigor Kroxolotl let out an ear splitting roar and set off in pursuit. Matching his prey's speed Kroxolotl struck with out his vast head sending Bazza high into the air.
As Bazza's limp form was carted off skink Cinteoll bolted to the ball but not before arieal renforcements in the form of Kenneh ( who crashed into the Krox on landing) and swift ground support from Rik and a slightly slower Pagga swarmed to cover it.
Kenneh pushed Cinteoll onto the ball which bounced into crowd. Runna Rik followed the trajectory of the ball thrown back into play, caught it and made for home. Saurus Popocatpetl bounded from the Endzone hoping to cut Da Kikas' star off but he nimbly dodged away to tie the game.

A quick headcount during the post touchdown break revealed a missing Kenneh. A search of the ground revealed no errant Linegobbo and with the Ref demmanding their precence on the pitch, the baffled Kikas filed back on, though some more sharp eyed observers noticed a suspicious amount of green stained black cloth stuck between Kroxolotl's teeth....

Pustul kicked deep into Tollen territory, skink Hueh plucked the ball from his Endzone and set off at speed to his opponant's. Blitzs and blocks from Pagga and Smak 'Ed failed to dislodge the ball though did earn Pagga a fractured eye socket at Mextli's claws. As Hueh ran clear Amrig (alone on the Line of Scrimmage) tested a rumour he'd heard that if you didnt move, Sauruses can't see you.
Atalcar regarded the misguided Blitza for a moment before causally backhanding him into the KO'd box.
Hueh handed the ball to skink n012 who took it home to secure a late lead

Seconds left on the block, one play remaining, The Gods' wind assisted kick drifted into the crowd, granting Da Kikas a much welcomed touchback.
Rik lept into Lichen's hand, the Stone Troll cobbed Rik high and true, Rik landed running and to a deafening gale of "Waaaaaaarghhhhh!!"'s from the Green Skined crowd, earnt his team a valuble point from a brutal game.

World's Edge Reavers (Orc): 2 --- Da Shin Kikas: nil

Off-season boardroom wrangles and disputes about pay ment that The Reavers' first team refused to take the pitch. Under threat of forfit Reavers managment called up the 'yoof' team, who were all too happy to scab for major league attention, although denuded of their most talented players only their hardcore fans turned out, vastly outnumbered by those of Da Shin Kikas.

Bouyed by their previous game's success Bazza once again elected to kick on winning the toss, a decison that looked correct as the drizzle slicked ball slipped from Reaver Thrower n0 8's grip.Amrig darted to cover the ball supported by 'Slaya' Skuttlebutt. Ogli Marshbreath broke from the line of scrimmage charging towards an inexplicably smiling n0 6 Blitzer. As Ogli closed the remaining few yards towards his mark he raised a fist to smack the grin off the smug orc's face.
Moments later the troll came too looking up at the cloudy sky some distance away from his previous location, a dim recollection of stumbling into false ground then a sensation of speed during which he seem much, much taller than everyone else.
Meanwhile n06 broke Amrig's jaw and slapped Skuttlebutt aside to clear the ball for n0 8's this time sucessful retreval. On the wing Wetabix's moment of triumph, near gutting n0 5 Lineorc, proved somewhat pyrrhic as Reavers' captain Blitzer n0 1 took exception to his being on the pitch and beat him to a pulp.
Blocking three-piece Pustul, Rik and Bazza proved almost as useful as their Loony teammate, pulling down Black Orc n012 who landed on Pustul, knocking him out.
Reavers no 8 ran to join the pocket awaiting him on the line of scrimmage but once again fell foul of the Autumnal weather, slipping on damp grass. Lineorc n0 4 caught and briefly held the ball until blitzed by Bazza, assisted by rookie 'Bloka' Gorka (taking still-missing Kenneh's n04 vest). Seizing the ball Bazza made off for Skuttlebutt lurking within striking range of the scoring line. Kikas' fans lept to their feet as a touchdown against the run of play looked assured.

It would be fair to say this brief flare of hope marked the high point of Da Shin Kikas' performance.

Blitzer n0 1 doubled back from just inside Da Kikas' half to launch a dazzlingly acrobatic sissor tackle that brought Bazza down and badly broke the Boss Gobbo's legs in the process. The ball scattered into the Reavers' pocket, kicked by Blitzer n06 into his captain's waiting arms. A foul by Reavers' Gobbo no7 KO'd Rikmund leaving the way clear for n01, accompanied by Black Orc n0 2, to jog towards Da Kikas' Endzone.
A thrown Fraksworf brought the Black Orc down and although the impact dislocated the Linegobbo's shoulder putting him on the bench for the rest of the game, the bold play unsettled the Reavers' Yoof captain enough to run home his touchdown while Da Kikas would still have a couple of minutes to try and equalise.
Although a minority in the stands Reavers' fans proved a vocal and violent one whose displeasure at their captain's timidness exploded the tensions between the tiers of various Greenskins. The ref let the gameclock run meaning that by the time order was restored minutes had evaperated into seconds for Da Kikas attempted reply.
And a good reply it looked too; Lichen sending Rik flying off to within range of the Endzone, the 'Runna' landing on his feet needing only to dodge past two players to score; Kikas fans once again on their feet until a desperate diving tackle by Thrower n08 took Rik off his.

During half time most Kikas players sent their complementary bottles of Orca Cola back to the stadium office complaing of it's excessively bitter taste. An angry exchange ensued followed by general confusion as Tudor Bowl hospitality staff denied even issuing such beverages. Whatever the cola's origins suspicions were raised later as Da Kikas players became increasingly sluggish and uncoordinated as the game wore on.

The opening moments of the second half mirrored those of the first with Da Kikas making early ground: Rik caught the high kick, running to a loose pocket behind the line of scrimmage. Orcs rushed to hem it in but Da Kikas troll Bloka held them off long enough for Rik, covered by Skuttlebutt, Hobo and Rikmund to slip away, although 'Katcha' Pustul came a cropper trying to secure the rear.
Again Orcs swarmed to stem the gobbo tide, this time with more success and a ruck broke out with Black Orc no12 stunning Kikas' 'Blitza' Smak 'Ed and Rikmund downing Lineorc n04 leaving just enough space to allow Rik a desperate escape bid ended by Blitzer n0 6's mailed fist. Hobo attempted to revive the drive but was injured by Thrower n0 8.
A third Kikas' player left the pitch soon after. An argument with Reavers' Gobbo n07 led to a brawl when Smak 'Ed called no7 "Unkytom" (a truely vile slight between Goblins) the end result of which was the insulted Reaver repeatedly stamping on Smak 'Ed's 'ed until it made a sickening cracking noise.
Another ruck broke out around the ball just inside Reavers' territory and sucked players in from across the pitch. Ogli blitzed into the Orc line while Gorka and Reavers' Gobbo n0 9 became embroiled in an undignified slap fight. At length Thrower n08 burst his way from the scrum, ball in hand, passed it off to "Unkytom" who scampered clear into Da Kikas backfield.
Only Da Kikas' trolls were left in position to offer anything like resistance to the Reavers' steamroller - Lichen throwing team mate after team mate at the stalling n0 7 in a vallient though unsuccessful attempt to force him to score while ,dispite being heavily outnumbered, Ogli Marshbreath fought with bezerker fury using Reavers' Blitzer n01 as a club to smite n06 and Lineorc n04.

The clock almost out Gobbo n07 secured the match-winner and with only 5 seconds left of the game and only 5 players from 15 standing to play them, the remaining Kikas took a knee and thanked the gods that it was all over.

The Midnight Mutants (Chaos) 2 --- Da Shin Kikas 2

After suffering thirteen casualties during their last two matches Da Shin Kikas aproached this third game against reknowned sluggers The Midnight Mutants with understanble apprehension that only deepened when Mutants' captain Olendithus won the toss and ,cackling maniacally, declaired to recieve.
Fear lent wings to Da Kikas and, anticipating the kick perfectly, caught The Mutants flat footed. Seeing the malicious look on Beastman Zanben's face Hobo, Rik, and Pustul rushed him and with 'It-man Pagga's assistance kicked Zanben until he stopped trying to move.
Backfield Mutants' Gor receiver Xaneak lept high into the air to catch the kick before setting off for Kikas' territory. On the line of scrimmage rookie bloka Morka was disapointed to be stretchered off so early in his first game at the professional level (or was when he came too and realised he'd not been seriously hurt) while 'choppy' could find no weak point in chaos warrior Olendithus' plate armour but did in Wetabix's flesh and the loony retired from the match with much less blood than he'd began it with.
A third Kika left when Beastman n015, Eric-gor, threw Hobo from the pitch to be beaten black and blue by his own fans. Pagga desperately sidestep to avoid the same fate himself.
Xaneak meanwhile continued to trot along the wide zone for an unhurried touchdown as few Goblins were in any position to oppose him and his escorts. Pagga attempted to flank the ball carrier but was hemed in by several Mutants in the midfield.
Dezpret Mejurz book opened earlier than ususal, Coach Deadeye called for Da Gobbo Bomm; Lichen grabbed the nearest team mate (Pustul) and threw him with all his Trolly might towards the gaggle of idling Mutants who were much suprised to see a Gobbo sail over the heads, more suprised at the skidding landing he made and shocked into paralysis as the para-Gob screamed an high-pitched warcry removed his helmet and introduced it to Xaneak's kneecap bringing him down in agony and loosing the ball which was smartly recovered by Pustul, basking in the glory of a play that by far exceeded all expectations of sucess. He didnt get long to enjoy it however as the beastmen gathered themselves and Uddkas brought Da Kikas' katcha down.
Da Bomm play was then optimistically repated, this time with Rik, but his landing was bad leaving him an a heap. Skuttlebut da Slaya psyched himself up for his shot at glory, charging into the pocket, which he was buffeted around for a few moments before being kicked to The Mutants' fans.
Pagga, now having given his markers the slip, bolted for the side line and punted the ball into the stands hoping their throw in would inconvieance The Mutants enough to a) spoil their drive b) distract them enough to avoid retribution. Unfortunatly the ball corkscrewed into a Mutants' stand who loyally tossed it back into play in the midst of The Mutants' pocket, caught by Eric-gor and taken home for a touchdown.

While Wuddun Topp twirled ineffectually around the line of scrimmage Hobo conveyed the ball to Rik, Lichen cobbed Da Kikas' star runna deep into The Midnight Mutants' half where he landed on his feet and chipped away for the late equalizer.

The half time riot took on a less jolly tone than usual as rather than signaling a mass charge along the stands, as the whistle blew a slow drumbeat filled the air followed by Skuttlebutt, hoisted up between two large wooden stakes. Insulted by their player being used as a standard and unwilling to lose any more players to halftime shinanigans, Da Kikas players, staff ,and fans swarmed The Mutants' supporters and with numbers on their side, eventually fought their way to Skutty, cut him down and dragged the catatonic Slaya back to his home dugout.
Team Medic Dokta Cripllin treated the ritualized cuts on Skuttlebutt's body and pronounced them non serious but spoke darkly of potential damage to his soul and advised Coach Deadeye to bench him for the rest of this game atleast. Taking heed, Da Kikas n0 2 was rested and placed under 'Obzavashun'.

Back on the pitch The Mutants kicked deep, recovered by Rikmund whose enthusiastic pass to Hobo overshot and ended up nowhere useful.
On the line of scrimmage a brawl broke out, Mutants' Minotaur, Mino, battering Ogli down then Lichen as Marshbreath pulled himself to his feet to return the favour.
Chaos warrior Davakas recovered the ball, meandered to the Endzone, paused for a moment to laugh at Da Kikas' pitiful attempts to head him off and then, when he judged enough time had passed, steped casually over the scoring line.

As has become traditional, few Kikas were able to take the field for the last drive. Pagga recieved The Mutants' kicked ball, handed it off to Fat Gob, who alone in the midfield with half a dozen Beastmen bearing down on him and nothing else sensible to do, threw the ball into the ruck simmering at the half-way point where it was miraculously caught by Rik.
Sensing the oncomming throwing play half The Mutants' squad jogged to their own backfield while the remainder waded into the LoS scrum.
Cheers errupted from The Mutants' fans as their beloved Minotaur floored Lichen Rukmuncha and all hope looked lost for Da Kikas looked lost but the indefatible Stone Troll proved he is made of stronger stuff, leaping to his feet while Minos' bloodlust drew him elsewhere, rescued Rik from the ruck and threw him an heroic distance. Rik once more managed to land cleanly when it counted and bolted away to score.

Cursing themselves for allowing the equalizer The Mutants pushed themselves hard to win a game that was before theirs for the taking. Xaneak once more plucked the kicked ball from the air, sprinted to fellow Gor Adoendithus who , now in possession, high-tailed it for the Endzone. Pagga and Rik raced to pull him down and suceeded, knocking 'Ady' out.
Unable to score now The Mutants vented their frustration on Troll Bloka Ogli Marshbreath. Minos, assisted by six team mates floored the Troll then vindictively kicked him on the ground which achived nothing bar getting their captain Olendithus sent off as the full time whistle blew.

Vermin Avengers (Skaven): 3 --- Da Shin Kikas: 2

Twenty-four thousand fans turned out to witness this thrilling clash between Volks' Haul Conference founding teams, The Vermin Avengers and Da Shin Kikas. Two long seasons of Blood Bowl had taken their toll on the Skaven players however, and as they warmed up it was clear that many had aches and niggles, noteably their gutter runners, with all four sitting out most of the pre match training.

Bazza won the toss and in a change to previous tactics, elected to receive, hoping to damage the Skaven before they could take out too many of his own players and, if conditions allowed, bag an early lead.
Rik caught the kicked ball then ran to a loose pocket at the widezone while Kikas 'speshul teemz' Wetabix and Wudun Topp went about clearing him a path, very successfully on the fanatic's part, downing storm vermin n03 Skuttler Blackklaw, not quite so on Weety's, whose chainsaw sliced air, nimble gutter runner n04 Leggzy Leven leaping back, although he was floored by 'choppy's flat on the return swing.
The Avengers made a good effort to halt the gobbo advance early; linerat Boorg taking Bazza's not-quite-healed legs and forcing him back into the 'care' of Dokta Cripplin while another linerat made a nuisense of himself to Ogli ,climbing over the slow-witted Troll in search of a weak point.
Rik and most of his escorts managed to give The Avengers the slip and make headway into their half, though they soon found themselves hemmed in again. Unsucessful blocks and Wetabix failing to find the mark again left few options for Rik except to call to throwing partner Lichen Rukmuncha for a bash at their now imfamous combo play. Lichen lumbered up from his post at the halfway mark to link up with Rik and tossed him deep. The runna landed okay and, after a brief check to see if any Avengers were in range to intercept him, ran the opener home.

While his team mates deployed to kick, expecting retribtuon for his poor performance from Coach Deadeye, Wetabix set about bribing the ref to send him to the safety of the stadium's dungeon in the hopes that Da Gaffa would have calmed down by the time he got released.

With both teams enthused by their fans' songs and the ball kicked the game restarted in earnest. The Avengers' thrower recovered it, passing to gutter runner n0 6 who handed off into the mitt of start scorer Leggzy. One of Leggzy irksome lightning equalizers looked certain as the gutter runner lept Frakswurf and scurried away. But it was not to be as Leggzy pulled a hamstring was forced to retire from the drive to recover. Ogli 'retired' another Avenger, almost taking stormvermin Blackklaw's head off with a haymaker at the line of scrimmage.
Rik retreived the ball abandoned by Leggzy, passed it to Pagga who ran to a cage behind his Troll team mates. Ratman gutter runner n05 lept over these ablative Goblins to land a kick on the 'it-man that briefly stopped the player's heart. Happily, swift attention by Dokta Cripplin saved one of Da Kikas' most loved members.
Gutter runner n0 5 didnt let being surrounded by vengeful Gobbos distract him from cooly catching Pagga's dropped ball then leaping away - covered by the confusion of his team's rat ogre battering both Ogli and Lichen into the cage - and breaking for the Endzone. Avengers' fans were once again denied by the poor pitch condition as a second gutter runner tripped as a touchdown looked certain.
Pustul caught the crowd's throw-in to the midfield and slid himself into Pagga's reconstituted pocket awaiting a boost upfield by Lichen and a two-nil lead but Rukmuncha was unbothered by illusions of glory and, stomach rumbling, scanned his dugout for Troll Wrangla Skutty with a view to a snack.
Lichen's distraction allowed stormvermin Krakjaw to blitz Pustul, gifting the ball to the Avengers' thrower who sent it away to gutter runner n0 5 for the long awaited touchdown.

Rik too the penalty touchback given for The Avengers' kick going short and bouncing into their half. Looking to go ahead at the interval Rik nudged Lichen. The Troll, still without a snack drew the little Gobbo closer and closer towards his maw. At the last moment Rik realized his peril and wriggled free from Lichen's grasp just before the half time whistle blew.

As well as the ball at their kick off, a cobblestone flew from Da Kikas' half, the former caught by gutter runner Leggzy, recovered from his leg injury, who nipped smartly along the widezone to go score without incident, the latter pinging off linerat n0 8's helmet, knocking him out.

Another kick, another touchback, this time awarded to Ogli - more out of intrest than cunning ploy. He didnt keep it long in any event, another furious assult by the ratmen's mutated Ogre knocking Marshbreath down. Gutter runner no 6, Skeet Skitterleap rushed to gather the loose ball and dodge away but was thwarted by Ogli lashing out for the Avenger, grabbing him by the tail and pulling. Skitterleap's screech echoed around the pitch before he passed out leaving new Gobbo Shazbott to collect the ball and Ogli holding two foot of Skeet's tail.
Shazbott (taking pensioned-off Amrig's n0 9 shirt) sprinted off to Rik but stumbled, though after a scramble Rik managed to catch the bouncing ball. Swearing at his rookie collegue Rik made for the line of scrimmage, dodged past Wudun Topp celebrating dealing an injury to Nukledurst by having a seziure, and handed the ball to Gorka. Lichen forgot his hunger for a moment to throw Gorka upfield but alas unfamiliar with 'controled' flight he tumbled in the air, landed on his neck and repared to the great dugout in the sky.
Cursing like a sailor Rik yelled at fellow Kikas Shazbott and Frakswurf to join him in trying to rescue the ball before The Avengers could recover and confirm their lead. It looked a forlorn effort as linerat n0 2 stamped hard on Shazbott's leg fracturing it and clearing the ball for linerat n0 11 to lauch a quick pass to a waiting gutter runner. A desepetate interception by Frakswurf put pay to that and to the delight of Da Kikas' fans he handed the ball to Rik who swiftly equaled the score.

Coach Deadeye resolved to impress apon his charges the importance of good kicking as yet another ball was punted out of bounds, gifted to a now much hated Leggzy to take the score to 3-2.

Little time remained to salvage a momentous three points from four games but most of Da Kikas did all they could to nick the tie: Ogli KO'ing "lucky" linerat n0 13, Rikmund recieving and throwing long into the hands of katcha Pustul as he battered off the attentions of gutter runner n0 9.
Pustul to Rik. Rik tapped Lichen for the throw but the Stone Troll once more saw lunch and Da Kikas' Green 'ope had to desperately struggle free.
In the technical area Da Gaffa set about 'Inkoragin' ' Skutta, informing him that one of the most important aspects of his job, viz. that of Troll Wrangla would be making sure that the team's Trolls were fed so that would not take a fancy to their Goblin counterparts and that further more, should Lichen ever take a fancy to devour Rik again, Skutta himself would be dessert.
Or words to that effect.

A heated exchange has also broken out on the pitch as Rik, understandably gunshy about being thrown/near gobbled again attempted to delegate the task to Fat Gob. While Rik assured the chunky Katcha that he probably wouldn't even fit in Rukmuncha's mouth, Leggzy stalked the arguing Goblins and launched a leaping tackle bringing both himself and Rik down. Realizing it was all down to him to level the game Fat Gob swallowed his fears and went for the ball but all too late and as as soon as he secured it the matchclock ran out and whistle blew for full time.

Witchking Wanderers (Dark Elf) : 4 ----- Da Shin Kikas: 1

With twice league championship contenders, the Har-Ganarth Executioners retireing, the Volks' Haul Conference found itself with a Dark Elf shaped hole. Happily for fans of spiteful finess the Black Arks delivered the Witchking Wanderers, who were swiftly marked-up by the bookmakers as antepost favourites to take next season's title if not this one.
Having placed a series of doubles and singles on these probable outcomes and certain-sure of a drubbing at the hands of their bankers, Coach Staggut and his key players chose to view this match as a training game so as not to aggrevate old injuries etc, etc.
And so, unsuprisingly, Rik's kick off went high, caught by Wanderers' n0 5 runner, Kruell. Witch Elf n0 3, the latter half of a shock duo dubbed 'Peach and Cream' by the sport's more masoganistic fans, ran down the widezone, clearing a path for her runner by KO'ing Pustul.
Loony Wetabix charged Cream for vengence, 'choppy' biting shallowly into her taut, toned thigh as the Elf dodged away. Although her natural agility saved her from serious injury the shock of the frenzied assult finding a mark at all left Cream momentarily stunned. Fat Gob rushed to take advantage of Cream's distraction but was floored and wounded by blitzer Cruex in the n0 10 shirt who appeared from nowhere to launch his attack.
The flank now totally Gobbo-free Kruell passed to n0 8 blitzer Vicmix, from him into Peaches' well manicured hands, who sashayed home to open her account.

The three rather brave Dark Elf linemen who elected to stand infront of Wudun Topp quickly became two, freeing Ogli to blitz the Wanderers' no0 5 and punch a hole for a running reply. Downfield, Hobo recovered the ball but a disintrested Rik dropped the pass. With the required speed of the running play compromised, aswell as the more important threat to his health and safety posed by Cruex and Peaches thundering toward him, Rik decided to put some effort in, gather the ball and bolt for the line of scrimmage. Dispite his famed speed Rik could not evade Peaches and ,although not sucumbing to the Witch Elf's attack, Rik's desperate dodging landed him in a pocket of Wanderers. Even Rik could not hope to slip through such a net and though he made a sterling effort, the runner came a cropper just as he looked like he'd make it.
The ball landing at Wudun Topp's feet posed a problem to the Wanderers as did half Da Kikas rushing to reclaim or just cover it. The Wanderders resolved the latter, easier issue first, dispatching Frakswurf, Razzol, and Hobo in short order then supported by four of her team mates, Peaches' sustained offensive against Lichen bore fruit and took the Stone Troll out of the match.
Then to the former. Line elf n0 6 grasped the nettle and managed to recover the ball from under Wudun Topp's nose without coming to harm, then, pursued by the whirling fanatic passed to blitzer Vicmix, safe within a huddle of the comrades, but his catch was bad scattering the ball from the pocket, which in turn was scattered as Wudun Topp carrered into the startled Dark Elves.
Seizing this rare chance Pustul snatched the ball and picked his wayt past half a dozen Wanderers displaced by Wudun Topp's ball and chain to slot snugly between bloka combo Ogli and Morka.
Not as safely as thought however, as blitzer no9, Alcar, slid through the proto pocket and smashed the katcha down, loosing the ball which was recovered by Wanderers runner Kruell.
Meanwhile line elf no 6 - Miguel- and blitzer Cruex lowered Da Kikas' pitch prescence by knocking Rik out and slaying 'troubled' n0 2 Skuttlebutt.
At the coal face Ogli intercepted a quick pass originating from Kruell to the intence cheers of the Kikas fans, staff and players alike.
Smacking Alcar aside the Troll lumbered upfield, Bazza forging further ahead to reach striking distance. Kikas' fans' hopes began to dampen as it seemed the entire Dark Elf squad swarmed to cover any move by Marshbreath.
Again Da Kikas' fanatic demonstrated his value for money by scattering the Wanderers with the exception of runner n0 1, but the Night Goblin had done more than enough as Ogli's toss to Bazza was on target, caught by Da Boss and run home for an unforgetable equalizer accompanied by roars from the crowd that continued all through halftime.

Excited by pulling a draw before the interval and now reciving most of Da Kikas forgot their wagers and went for it. Ogli, Bazza and Morka cleared the line of scrimage while Rik seized the ball and made for the halfway mark with Pustul, Frakswurf and Razzol in tow. Dreams of glory proved merely that however, as the Wanderers swarmed Kikas' Kountry, Cream rendering Rik insensable with her fisty favours, Alcar recovering the ball and taking it home to push the Witchking Wanderers two-one up.

The Wanderers' unearthly speed foiled Da Kikas' attempt at a swift equalizer, runner n0 1 catching his team's kick before the Gobbos even moved.
As Rik and Frakswurf scrambled to intercept him, Alcar materialized from the ether with a flying knee-strike that smashed veteran linegobbo Frakswurfs' solar plexus, ending his career.
Meanwhile Kruell jogged along the to Da Kikas endzone to take recepit of a gentle touchdown pass to confirm the Wanderers' victory.

Down but not disheartened, Da Kikas formed up for the next drive with scoring in mind.
Pustul caught the kick, passed to Rick who ran on for pocket awating him at the line of scrimage. His partnership with Lichen busted by Witch Elf Peaches, Rik uncertainly called the throwing play to River Troll bloka Ogli Marshbreath, a call that ended as Rik desperately had to struggle free from a collegue's claws, mistaken for a halftime orange , for the second game running while on the touchline Coach Staggut Deadeye set about mercilessly 'inkorajin' his Troll Wrangla to within an inch of his life.
Rik had little time to recover from his latest ordeal before Peaches barrelled into the runna, downing him and stealing the ball for herself while Morka and Bazza were passed around the cage resulting in Da Kikas' captain being knocked out by Miguel.
As the clock ran down the spectators had/got to enjoy/endure the specticle of another casual touchdown pass, Peaches throwing to "Da Lizt"'s new topper, Alcar.

Obliged to take to the field for a final minute Da Kikas choose not to exert themselves, instead indulging in alittle passing practice in the curtain closed on the match and 'da boyz in da no' got a little step closer to a colosal coup from 'da bookiez'.
