Menryllion Whiteblades - Wood Elves on the circuit

Post by axiom »

Autumn leaves are starting to turn and the Menryllion Whiteblades have taken their fresh young squad on tour. Their sponsers Elfidas have stumped up the gold coins for a fancy new strip, and the starting squad looks to be pacey, but perhaps light on muscle.

Here's the team for last night's match against the solid but unspectacular human team, the South Side Hornets:

Corlain Stronghawk (Wardancer)
Meyne Longthrow (Thrower)
Enuil Sternbrow (Lineman)
Eyrid Truesight (Lineman)
Caryl Sidewhip (Lineman)
Tal Silverhair (Lineman)
Lohal Swiftfoot (Lineman)
Alais Firmstride (Lineman)
Estii Pureheart (Catcher)
Amric Surehands (Catcher)
Elfrin Keeneye (Catcher)
2 RR

First Half
I think it's fair to say that the Wood Elves had it all their own way in the first half, with the humans barely able to place their hands on the ball. An inexperienced scrimmage line from the first kick-off, saw the 'Blades double-up for assisted blocks to place several of the Hornets on the ground. Human blitzer Jeremiah Van Strupp was the first to leave the pitch after a particularly nasty two-on-one led by the lineman Alais Firmstride. A first-half touchdown by the 'Blades catcher Estii Pureheart after a sutble sequence of hand-offs, passes and flowing running saw the score at 1-0 at half-time.

Second Half
The Hornets' team talk plainly was of no use in the second half, with two further casualties both in the 3rd quarter. Han Pyse (catcher) and Jurgan Hoffstadter (lineman) fell to successive blocks, wardance Corlain Stronghawk with the first, and yet another from lineman Alais Firmstride - one to watch? Both players left the field, and with two further knockouts, the were able to run in a late second touchdown and make sure of the result. Corlain Stronghawk led the charge to the line before a final last second pop-pass to give the glory to mohican-coiffured lineman Tal Silverhair. Final score: Menryillion Whiteblades 2-0 South Side Hornets.

As the Whiteblades collected their winnings, Tal Silverhair was awarded the Most Valuable Player and picked up some extra training sessions with the Blocking coaches, while Alais Firmstride managed to stay on for a session with Kicking specialist Dolfar Longstride.

Corlain Stronghawk (Wardancer), Block, Dodge, Leap, SPP 4

Next game on tour is versus the Green Boyz Bashers - those Elves had better steer clear of the scrimmage line; three Black Orcs is going to make a mess of any pretty boy who gets too close!
