I'm sorry to spoil a bit of your fun, but if my english is correct, you did a pass and and threw a halfling in the same turn?

That is not legal, because throwing a halfling counts as the pass action. Although it's possible i misunderstood it.

Anyway, cheers for your victory!!!

Nope your english is spot on. I dont actually know where that came from, as my team doesnt have any completions on it. Poor reporting on my behalf i think . I dont think the throw ever happened, just the hand off. Thats what i get for writing that up at 2am i guess! I appreciate picking it up though, as i havent even played blood bowl for a year yet, so i will get rules wrong!

As an aside, i can blitz with the treeman and then throw a halfling can't i?

No, only 1 action per player.

Blitz is an action and so is a pass. You cant do both with the same player.

And you can only make 1 pass per turn. A TTM is a pass and so is passing the ball. You cant do both in the same turn but you can hand-off and make a pass (or a TTM). So you got that one correct.

*Post-Match Interview*
Star Player TV: Welcome back folks! I’m standing here with Pippin, the coach’s man of the match and Treebeard, the crowd’s man of the match. After that thrilling win you two must be estatic!

Pippin: I’m, I’m still alive?

Treebeard: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yesssssssssss.

Star Player TV: That’s great! Did you two ever think that your team had such a performance in it? I mean that’s two wins out of two games for the Shire Giants. That’s championship material!

Pippin: Those lizards were big and scary. I just picked up the funny shaped pie and ran towards the end of the ground so I could eat in peace.

Treebeard: Offffffff course we had a winnnnnnn in us. It actually remindssssssss me offffffff the timeeeeeeee back in myyyyyy younger dayssssss, whennnnnn the gameeeeee wasn’t soooooo hastyyyyyyyy. Iffffff oonly weeeee could…..

Star Player TV: Ok good stuff good stuff! Finally, you’re up against the Jiang Dong Tigers next game. They are touted as being possible contenders for the Blood Bowl this season, with a team value that is almost double yours! Do you and Coach L have any secret plans on how to combat all of the block/mighty blow?

Pippin: Gulp! Orcs don’t eat Halflings, do they?

Treebeard: Whichhhhh of course bringgggs meeeeeee backkkkk to affffter that initialllll seasoooooooon.....

Star Player TV: Thanks fellas! So that’s the end for this week folks, tune in next week when we feature some actual Star Players!

*Game 3. Shire Giants v Jiang Dong Tigers (orcs)*

Got 670k in Inducements. Took the typical Chef and Deeproot combo, plus Zara the Slayer for a bit of strength 4.

Now I’m going to write this one a little different, mostly because there isn’t much to tell from the Halfling perspective and because I’m a little pressed for time. Needless to say, the plucky Shire Giants finally tasted defeat at the hands of the Jiang Dong Tigers, a season 2 orc team. The 4-0 loss was a little demoralising, but at the same time it was probably the first time in a game where I have felt like the dice shafted me big time! The chef only took one re-roll both halves, but the orc coach didn’t care, as he didn’t even need to use the re-rolls he had remaining.

The poor Halflings must have been scared out of their wits the whole game, as they failed to do anything! Pippin, the star of last game, and his 4 AG may as well have been 2 AG as EVERYTIME someone tried to hand off the ball to him it was a 1 re-roll 1. To compound this he then decided to take a flop and spend the rest of the game in the knocked out box only a couple of turns into the second half.

The orc coach did play well, though 3 of his touchdowns were from my Halflings failing to pick the ball up, then him blocking a few Halflings down and marching down field. But such is the game of Blood Bowl!

Pros:
As silly as it sounds when I lost 4-0, but my defence wasn’t too bad. I made the orc coach do a few crazy things to get the ball (which he generally succeeded in) but it could have been 6 or 7-0 if I hadn’t of played the defence I did!

No Halfling died! Against an orc team that prides itself on inflicting casualties, the Halflings actually fared pretty well.

Quickbeam, the other Treemen, inflicted a casualty, meaning he is one MVP away from skilling up! (And hopefully rolling doubles!)

My taking of Break Tackle on Treebeard did actually pay dividends in this game. After my opponent realised that Treebeard could dodge away for 2’s then into the cage for 4’s and get a two die block, he took the long way around. Which leads on to another pro, in that the orcs received first turn, and it did take them 6 turns to score (note that it actually took them 6 turns to score, not that they burned 6 turns then scored :P).

Cons:
Whether it was my bad dice, my use of her or something else, Zara sucked. Bad. That bad that I may not even take her again.

I relied too much on the one turn score, which is nice when it works, but not so nice when your Treemen fumbles your Halfling on top of another Halfling and the both get knocked out. I’ve gotta learn to try and score a different way.

I need new dice that don’t decide to fall on 1 everytime! Haha

Overall though I guess I wasn’t too upset with the outcome, as it probably was expected. I was probably more annoyed in the manner in which the loss came about, as it was more dice rolls than anything. But once again that is Blood Bowl!

Final stats
Final score: Shire Giants 0-4 Jiang Dong Tigers
Casualties: 1-3
Scorers: Nil
MVP: Samwise
Crowd: 6,000

*Post-Match Interview*

Wizard TV: Urh, where are the Halflings we were supposed to interview?

Production: They said they’d meet us here right after the game!

Wizard TV: Well they aren’t her..wait what’s this? A note? Dear man with magical box that brings us our favourite show, Gordon Puggsy. We have returned home after our game with against the savage, scary and snotty orcs. We do not want to get eaten. Plus Fatty Bolger now looks twice as big because of the lump on his head, which the Apothecary said was normal for a Halfling playing Blood Bowl. Shire Giants.

Next up for the hungry little guys an undead team that suffered heaps of casualties (including at least 2 deaths, one being a ghoul). This may be the first game that I don’t have Deeproot available, so it’s going to test both Coach L and the sternness of the Shire Giants!

Just a quick note, when you fumble a TTM the player being thrown is dropped back in the square he was picked up from (my trolls do this all the time) so you cannot fumble him onto another player... If he's thrown and scatters then he can "bounce" off another player before hitting the ground, but thats after he's been launched.

Keep up the good work, 1 loss is not so bad, no deaths is a plus!!

Oh ok so he just falls down in the square he is in, then he must make a landing roll or he suffers an armour roll? Thanks for picking that up! As i said, still getting to grips with these guys!

Thanks glowworm! Hopefully we can win the next game, then maybe one more win will get us into the finals! (Hopefully and depending on other results)

Ok so I’ve been slack with this, really slack! But I’ll try to do my best to re-cap, even though some games were played a while ago!

Played against an Undead team, Black Velvet, and gave them a good game. Took the usual inducements, and was so close to pulling off a 1-1 draw, but he managed to score in the final turn of the game and so we suffered a close 2-1 loss. Quickbeam did manage to kill a ghoul, which was apparently tradition against Black Velvet (they had a ghoul die in the last three games before our one). We suffered our first major injuries in this game, as we bid a fond farewell to Old Gaffer and Will Whitfoot, who retired after realising getting smacked in the head all day on a Blood Bowl pitch wasn’t nearly as fun as smoking pipe weed and eating salted pork.

Next up were a Wood Elf team, score was 4-2, got wood Elf-ed basically, and suffered way too many casualties for my liking. The new Halfling that replaced Old Gaffer, Old Gaffer’s ghost lived up to his name and died, becoming the Halfling with shortest Blood Bowl career in history (3 turns).

Going on beside this game was another game that would have implications on how the rest of the Giants Season was going to go. Ratten’s Horde (skaven) was facing off against the Dreaded Doomaxes (Chaos Dwarfs). If Ratten’s Horde won, they would move to 3pts and would still have two games to play, against the Shire Giants and a winless dark elf team, meaning if they won both games they would leap frog the Shire Giants into the finals. However in another brilliant GARBBL game the Dreaded Doomaxes prevailed 3-2 in OT, and piled on SEVEN casualties to the rats, meaning they were all but eliminated from the finals race due to differential (as they could now only draw level with the Giants on 6pts). THE GIANTS HAD MADE THE FINALS!!!!!!! Coach Nelson was absolutely ecstatic with this, as that was his one and only aim when asked by the Giants board of his intentions with the team.

The rats of Ratten’s Horde, though sorry and beaten, still played on and managed to beat the Giants 2-1 again in the last turn of the game. The game was quite lack luster from both sides, and it’s rumoured that after the game Coach Nelson threw a boot at Merry’s head, screaming if they were going to perform like that in the finals, they may as well not turn up (much to the delight of most Halflings).

Now while the other Halflings were busy dying, Pippin was training away, drinking the water of the entmoot and managed to get a move boost, making him the greatest Halfling (in theory) that the Shire Giants had ever seen.
The final season game saw the powerhouse Chaos Dwarf team The Dreaded Doomaxes take on the Giants. I’m going to link this one to the site as there is a write up there ;)
http://geelong.bloodbowlleague.com/default.asp?p=m&m=12

Next up for the Giants, the quarter finals! Can they upset the odds and take down the Wood Elf team, Romerio Kamp FC, that beat them 4-2 last time? Stay tuned!
