While I was thinking about a color scheme for my Skaven team, I realised that I need to play a match or two to get used to the cheese freaks.
Since I don't have any TT players around, I decided to go and play a Skaven team on a BBCE single player campaign.
Inspired by some of the team blogs here, I thought it'd be a nice idea to have one for my Skaven as well.

So, here goes, the good, the bad and the ugly:

The roster can be viewed as PDF which will be updated after every match.
Oh, and I use the names from the game, in case you think they are strange here and there...

In case you wondererd, the logo was stolen from the Wolverhampton Wanderers! :orc:

Match 1 - VS The Green Glade (Wood Elf)

Today was the day. The first real test of my horde of furry vermin pests against an opponent that meant business. And The Green Glade were no bunch of rookies either!

But my guys seemed to be in extra high spirits when they stormed out onto the pitch, were they were greeted with loud boos and hisses.
The stands were full of elves and we still had to make a name, nobody had ever heard about the Wanderers... yet!

Kwetch did a great job and the two passes the threw were right on target. There seemed to be some magic working between him and Nurgable Nager, who not only caught both passes without a problem but really exploded in whirlwind of dodges, runs and touchdowns. Maybe I'm gonne try this warpstone stuff too one day...

I've been a bit disappointed by Brechkut, our big guy. He seemed so wild and uncontrolable in training but somehow wasn't able to get his claws around one of the elves necks. I mean, yeah, those bastards are moving at lightning speed but I really expected one or two of them rolling on the floor in pain but...
Wasn't Brechkuts day, I guess...

But this is just whining on a very high level. The Wanderers did very good and the final result was more than satisfying for this bunch of rookies:

Warpstone Wanderers 5:0 The Green Glade (0:0 Casualties)

All five touchdowns were made by Nurgable, a really extraodinary player who seems to have a very successful carreer coming.

Match 2 - VS Pinkfoot Panthers (Halfling)

Psyched up by their landslide victory against the wood elves, the teams training went very well, especially Nurgable Nager was getting better and better from session to session. He was moving with more and more confidence and seemed to be unstoppable when he started sprintig down the pitch. (Gained +1 AG and the Block skill.)

I also was worried about my players so I hired an Apothecary before the game started.

When I told the guys that we were playing halflings next, you couldn't wipe the grin off their faces.
Maybe we shouldn't have taken the small guys so lightly...

We've all heard about treemen hurling halflings down the pitch but, let's be honest, have you ever seen it work out?
I always thought that this was the perfect tactic to retire players you no longer want on the team.
When this hafling jumped into the treemans hand and flew over my guys heads, nobody expected him to land on his feet.
With puffed up cheeks, sweaty forehead, ball in both arms and running for his life, the little bugger managed to completely surprise us and run into the endzone. Touchdown Panthers and the Wanderers in shock.

Kwetch did his best to bring the ball forward but he must have underestimated the speed of treemen too. The crack of his arm breaking could be heard throughout the stadium and he had to be lead off the pitch into the locker room. End of game for Kwetch but he's been awarded the MVP after the game. Our Apothecary said, he'll miss one match but then will make a full recovery. Lucky for us.

The Panthers were really good at being annoying. I started counting those waist high freaks as they seemed to be everywhere. They had their mark on Nurgable, probably saw his performance in the first game. Unfortunately, Nurgable can't get rid of his so loved tactic of running down the sideline with two teammates providing cover. The halflings managed to dodge between the covering players and push him into the crowd - two times this game! But, as our fan favorite, the crowd didn't go to hard on him and he returned to the pitch unharmed both times.

It was quite easy to avoid the treemen for my guys and after they saw what happened to Kwetch, they kept a respectful distance to them. After the touchdown and Kwetchs injury, those were only two useless logs on the pitch, nothing more. Even Brechkut kept away from them and couldn't land any bone shattering hit in this game either. Maybe something is wrong with him...

No matter how many of those creepy midgets were carried off the pitch, there always seemed to be more. Whereever my guys turned their heads, already twi or three of those buggers seemed to waiting. The Wanderers were thrown off balance and couldn't find any holes to slip through and the game seemed to be lost. But luckily in the last minutes of the game, Nurgable showed his supreme overview and when he could get a hold of the ball in our own half, he managed to pass the ball to Pwyose Zwitscher, a linerat, who made a sprint for his brother Deeose Zwitscher. After an successful hand-off, Deeose was in position and could run the ball in! Touchdown!

Warpstone Wanderers 1:1 Pinkfoot Panthers (5:1 Casualties)

I really hope Kwetch will get better soon and Nurgable keeps a cool head all the time. And I had ordered an extra helping of he finest cheese for the Zwitscher brothers at the after game feast.

Match 3 - VS Aukrug Eruptors (Nurgle)

While Kwetch recovered from his broken arm, he didn't stop training at all. Now that the Thrower is back in action, he also gained some agility through intensive training (Gained +1 AG)

After being shaken to the ground by Halflings, the Wanderers took the Eruptors more seriously. The high spirits were gone and replaced by some grim determination. This game could not be lost!
The Wanderers all knew enough of what to expect because they all had at least heard about the plague monks and clan pestilence.

Fortunately, Brechkut has caused his first casualty but was a bit later beaten senseless by the Nurgle Beast. Let's hope he know has the gist of tackling back in him and is going to start causing mayhem and despair in every game from now on. The same Beast also took out both Zwitscher brothers. According to our Apothecary, we were lucky and although they'll both miss a game, they'll be back pretty soon.

Nurgable again did fill in for missing Thrower Kwetch and with an enourmous sprint and accurate throw at least prevented a lead in the first half for the Eruptors. He also scored the winning touchdown in the middle of the second half. A player as you can' wish for any better. I really hope he will not overshadow the other Runners in our team and they'll rather take him as an idol instead of giving up and staying rookies.

Warpstone Wanderers 1:0 Aukrug Eruptors (1:2 Casualties)

As we're now one player short and we had the money, I decided to hire a still unexperienced but promising young Gutter Runner. Tuyutch joined us and got the lucky number 13 for his jersey. Let's hope it'll bring him much luck as it will be hard to play alongside of Nurgable Nager, who is setting a hard-to-reach example. Linerat Thelitch seemed to have gained the skill of making it harder for opponents to dodge away from him. (Gained the Tackle skill.)

Match 4 - VS Aukrug Eruptors (Nurgle) SEMI FINAL

Unfortunately, i didn't think of writing down the exact results of the semi final against the Aukrug Eruptors, which I had to play in the semi finals of the first tournament.
Shame on me! :blue:
This time, we knew what to expect but the Nurgle worshippers played even harder than last week.

My guys were psyched up. The Wanderers, absolute newcomers to the sport, were playing in the semi finals!

It was an incredible match and Nurgable outshined himself. He seemed to be everywhere, snatching the ball from Eruptor players, running up an down the field like a maniac. He's been the heart and soul of the team in this match. Kwetch did exceptionaly well too, his passes always spot on, although the Eruptors were able to keep him away from the ball most of the time.

I've lost track of what exactly happened, but by the end of the game, the Wanderers had their ticket for the final in the pocket. Two linerats have been injured but are good to go for the next match, so no real harm done.

Warpstone Wanderers 2:1 Aukrug Eruptors (0:2 Casualties)

Since the Pinkfoot Panthers threw the Wood Elves out of the tournament, we now have a chance to repay them for their sneaky way of playing and the only match we haven't won so far.
Halfling, here we come! Beware of the cheese stealers!

Match 5 - VS Pinkfoot Panthers (Halfling) FINAL

It was unbelievable!
When playing their first match, the Wanderers were greeted by boos and hisses.
Today the crowd cheered and when Nurgable Nager was announced, the roar of the crowd nearly shook the stadium to the core!

But my furry horde meant business. They quickly set up for the kick-off and as soon as one of the little buggers had his hands on the ball, Nurgable was already sprinting down their side of the field. By snatching the ball from the ground, right under the nose of the Panther, he gave the Wanderers an early lead and the stands almost exploded with applause.

Maybe we were a little to much into party mode already because the Panthers did the same with us! Some seriously incredible dodging later, one of the little buggers stepped into our endzone and equalized the score again. I thought about killing him, when he sat there with a smug face munching on a sandwich he seemed to have had on him.

Kwetch had his eyes everywhere, so he managed to pass the ball to each of the Gutter Runners, Fitik and Tuyutch and both scored. The Panthers tried to gat back into the game but their sneaky tactic of hauling a halfling down the field backfired badly. The little bugger had to be carried off the pitch and only the whistle stopped us from scoring a fourth touchdown.

I am so proud of my team. First ever tournament and snatching the trophy from the hands of much more experienced teams is an incredible feat. Tonights feast will probably seem the totally high on success, warpstone alcohol and cheddar!

Warpstone Wanderers 3:1 Pinkfoot Panthers (3:1 Casualties)
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! Image

After the match I weighed the teams purse in my hand and after some thinking, I hired a fourth Gutter Runner for the team. The one that showed some promising talent in the tryouts was no other than the youngest of the Zwitscher brothers, so Skryose joined his two brothers Pwyose and Deeose as team mate. We're almost a family busines now.

Kwetch and Deeose Zwitscher both improved their skills in tackling (gained Block skill) and Nurgable trained hard to be able to intercept more passes in the future (gained Pass Block skill).

While the guys are still partying, I decided for which tournament we're gonna play next. There will be some Chaos, Dark Elves and, of course, another Halfling team. Especially the Dark Elf team worries me a bit, as they're not known for fair play and match our strengths: Speed and agility.

This is the teams matches so far as PDF.

Unfortunately, I don't feel like playing BB right now and time also is short.

Will be continued... (I hope!)
