TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Hi gang.

This tournament is now NAF sanctioned. Members can see the listing here (when signed in). I'm sure you'll agree, it's nice to have NAF sanctioned Blood Bowl back at Warhammer World, and we're looking forward to future events we can sanction while giving everyone a bit more notice to get there! Some notes:

- This is short notice. It isn't without precedent (especially with new TOs, as in this case) that tournaments come to us within the 8 week notice window we request. We do our best to be accommodating (more Blood Bowl = betterer), and signs are that in future there will be more notice

- There is a sold out event 70 miles down the road on this weekend. We've checked this through with the TO and local staff; all are agreed that sanctioning here is the best choice. We don't believe this will torpedo the events already in the calendar at this late stage

- This event is at Warhammer World. Use GW minis, do not use Slann, Daemons of Khorne or Brettonians. These are non negotiable items

- GW Legal have asked we don't conduct face to face signups on-site. If you would like to join or renew at this event, please be advised you'll have to use the website for now. We're looking into what may be possible in future, so keep your eyes peeled on that

- The event uses special play cards. This is very unusual for those of you that play a lot of NAF tournaments, please make sure you're across these rules if you're going!

- Finally, the bright among you will note that this event doesn't welcome the full suite of CRP stars. There is actually a loophole in the NAF documentation at present, and I accept it isn't particularly clear what the status of CRP stars actually is at NAF events. We're considering this topic at present, expect a clear line when we publish the 2019 Annual Review as to what we think is best for the meta at our tournaments

That's it! If you're going, have a great time, and please let me know afterwards if you had fun. I'm not involved with running the event, all questions should go to whwevents@gwplc.com.

Cheers!

Great news there Phil, cheers for the heads up.

There were a few grizzled NAF veterans cleaning up at the last one I went to that might get a bit of a shock if a few more experienced coaches get involved!

Aspiring to improve on mid-table mediocrity, over in the SAWBBL.

Fancy an actual one-dayer? Check out The Coffee Cup.

NAF sanctioning is awesome. I'm sure it's going to be a great weekend - wish I wasn't working as it'll mean I miss it.

I'm all booked up for it, so a nice bonus that this has been added.

Does it's inclusion imply that the results will be loaded to the NAF site?

Yep! Member v member games, as ever. I guess attendees should be advised that there is likely to be a lower percentage of members at this particular event than at your usual NAF tournament. As noted above, this sort of thing is something we're looking at for the future.

Whilst the NAF can't sign up new members on the day can we bang the drum? Assuming a NAF staffer is there, that is, but even members can promote the club :)

I’m not going to tell members how to behave, but I’d try to be sensible if it was me. If someone asked me where I got my turn marker or what this World Cup thing was, I’d cheerily tell them. However, I doubt I’d be press ganging my opponent to join at half time so my game was listed.

Geggster will be there, so he will be available as required (and will doubtless be sensible on our behalf). Formal NAF ‘presence’ (whatever that looks like) is something we’re exploring. Probably for the future. This is step one.

As an outlander I never understood why GW should be touchy about this. Clearly the work the NAF does also promotes GW`s interest? (=selling BB minis and merch). Tracking the games is our most important task. If that makes people want to play more it also makes them (us) buy more stuff.

I'm not seeing this as anything other than a positive thing. Not being a lawyer, I don't understand exactly why they would prefer us not to do renewals / signups on site, but if Legal are worried about personal details being logged or whatever, I think that's all fine and I am respectful of that. I'm sure we'd be sympathetic to any other business that raised similar concerns?

This is a short notice thing that hasn't been set up as a collaboration. Signs are good that we'll have more input next time. I agree that a healthy NAF / GW relationship would be beneficial for both parties, and that's certainly the attitude I take when talking to them.

Anyway. TL:DR Hooray, let's play Blood Bowl! :)

Might be an issue with a service/goods being sold on their premises that has nothing to do with them. It's akin to walking into a pub and trying to sell your homebrew beer.
