BBALLs Cup 2019 - 16th Nov 2019 - London

The BBALLs Cup is a team tournament for teams of 3 players. It will be a 1 day 4 game tournament held on 16th November 2019 at Rule Zero (nee Magic Madhouse) in Hackney, London.

This is the finale of the BBALLs inaugural season and carries potential bonus points for the BBALLs Shield tournament series, but is also an event in its own right so all are more than welcome to come to our celebration of London Bloodbowl!



The Cup will be held at: Rule Zero, Hackney (Full address on a need to know basis only, get in touch if you need to know!) The nearest stations are Hackney Wick, Pudding Mill Lane and Stratford.

This is a NAF Approved team tournament for teams of 3 players, these teams do not have to match your BBALLS Shield team.
If you do not have a full team we will take individual or pairs of entrants and join them into pirate sides to compete together.

Entry will be £20 for NAF registered coaches, £25 for non-NAF (includes NAF membership). Where coaches wish to enter as a team please can a single member be nominated as captain and make a single payment of £60 (or relative amount if NAF membership(s) required) to allow easier admin.
This cost includes the 4 games, lunch and the chance to win lots of prizes!

Payments should be made via Paypal to pkqstourney [at] gmail [dot] com (using the ‘gift’ option please) and have the following in the comment:

• A family friendly team name
• NAF names & numbers of the coaches in the team

The draw will be done by Accelerated Swiss.

Rosters will be 1.1mi with 5-7 skills depending on tier, plus a bonus League Representative skill pack.

if i had friends why would i be playing this game

but seriously i think there are some other unaffiliated types who could join us if they play one more tourney - e.g. besters, vulture squadron - and are interested in playing in the cup, of course. Actually if they do well you might even be better teaming up with them
Anyway, basically i think wait a little bit and see who sticks their head up

Just to re-iterate to ensure that there is no confusion; You can form a team with anyone you like irrespective of the BBALLs Shield team you are representing. You can also join with any other players irrespective of how many shield points you have (or don't have) so far.

There is no limitation on anything, everyone is welcome in whatever format they like! Don't feel you have to wait for an 'optimum' selection, the seeding will only be for 2 rounds and an unseeded team can easily win the whole thing.

Eg Wagz (unaffiliated, 233.3 pts) could be in a team with scs.sam (COSH, 237.5 pts) and me (ECBBL, 66.7 pts) for the BBALLs Cup.
If we were seeded (probably despite me dragging the average down) we'd play another seeded team round 1 and, and if we won, round 2. We'd then play another team, seeded or not, with 2 wins round 3 and so on per swiss. We would be winning or losing as a group for the tournament itself against the other teams on the day. Our individual performances will then feed back into the Shield separately.

Second team signed up, the BBBL will be represented by an as yet unnamed team. Few others have almost sorted teams.

Keep them coming chaps, the earlier you all sign up the earlier I can order cool stuff for the tournament!

While I can't make head nor tail of the team rules, I plan to try to come, and will be 'Ronin' as always, happy to team up with anyone.

And are you really sure the DBL league reps MA drops by 3, not drops TO 3?

MA6 Gutters with B&C and dodge?
MA5 skinks with B&C and dodge?
MA1 Beards with B&C but admittedly block and tackle?

some rule sets are not even but this seems, er, 'fun'? rather than competitive.

Thanks PC, I'd suggest teaming up with Wagz would be a good place for you. I'm sure we can then find a willing 3rd coach.

In terms of the DBL B&C, yes drops by 3 was written as intended. Consideration was made for skinks or similar taking it but decided that the 30k cost would result in compromises having to be made elsewhere in the roster. Additionally as only 1/3rd of teams could even theoretically have it it wasn't too much more 'broken' than St4 dancers, Ag5 Elves or Wrestle/Strip Slann.
I'll have more discussions and I'm willing to consider changing this if consensus is that this is too OP. Please let me know if anyone else shares these concerns.

Finally due to circumstances outside our control the Warboar Autumn event has had to be moved to December. This means that the BBALLs Cup is the next event in the series so the scores as they stand now are the ones to be used for seeding. Additionally the BBALLs Shield awards will be given out at a later event (Warboar or BBALLs Masters) rather than at the Cup.
