Home Nations merge with Team England Challenge
After having a conversation with PeteW (TO for Team England Challenge) and KFoged, England Captain it was agreed it would be sensible to pool our resources what with the two tournaments being similar and based on the Eurobowl rules. Anyone who has registered initially for TE Challenge can switch their registration to the Home Nations - drop me an email on homenationsbloodbowl@gmail.com to arrange.
Overview
Leaning on the history and sporting rivalry of the rugby Home Nations (founded in 1883) there is an opportunity to gather the Bloodbowl nations of Scotland, England, Wales, Northern. Ireland, Ireland and an invited ‘Barbarians’ team to a two-day event in a Eurobowl year that offers:
- A fun event built upon the ancient rivalry of the Home Nations to gather some of the best coaches in Britain and Ireland to compete for honours before setting off for the Eurobowl later in the year.
- An opportunity for a live competitive ‘practice’ prior to Eurobowl / Open
- NAF Approved

Key Information
The tournament will take place on Saturday 29-30 June at Loughborough Students' Union, Ashby Road, Loughborough, LE11 3TT
Registration fee: £60 per coach and includes;
1. Entry to a five-round NAF approved team tournament
2. Hot buffet lunch on Saturday + Cold buffet lunch on Sunday
3. Tournament Gift(s)
How to Register
The Home Nations Bowl is by invitation to attend from the Home Nations Team Captains i.e. KFoged for England, Purdindas for Scotland etc.
The Home Nations Open - Registration will open on Monday 15th January and will be a two-step process:
1. The Team Captain will register their team
2. The Team Captain will be sent a coach registration form and for each of the four coaches to complete.
There is initial capacity for 20 Home Nations Open Teams (80 coaches)
Format
The format for the tournament:
- Two separate competitions for the Home Nations Bowl (invitational, 8-coach teams) and Home Nations Open. (4-coach teams)
- Two-day, five-round tournament, where the Bowl will be an all-play-all with the six teams and the Open a Swiss-format.
- Round One boards are drawn randomly, following rounds will see individual matches within the team tie drawn by Swiss as is typical to team-tournaments.
- The ruleset will follow the finalised Eurobowl/Open ruleset as set by the Greek hosts, approved by NAF.

- Getting to and from Loughborough Students' Union is well served:
- Just off the J23 on the M1, parking on campus at the weekend is plentiful
- Venue is 7-miles from East Midlands Airport from those travelling from further afield
- East Midlands trains stop at Loughborough and there is a campus bus that will drop you outside the Students' Union (may be less frequent out of term time)
Accommodation
There are on-campus and just off-campus accommodation options, hotels. I'm due to speak with the university accommodation services to see about arranging an option for accommodation in halls of residence.
