Rules

The Double Standards 2024 tournament will be using the Blood Bowl Second Season Edition (or Blood Bowl 2020 as it is commonly known) rules, along with the “Teams of Legend” PDF and the designers' Errata which can be found over on the official Blood Bowl website, as well as the inclusion of the Slann team, which may be found under the NAF's “Rules For Tournaments 2021” document. "Daemons of Khorne" will no longer be a permitted roster due to being superseded by the official GW Khorne team. Any Games Workshop published team / rules updates which occur 7 days or more prior to the tournament start date will be implemented, unless stated through updates provided by Tabletop Republic. Any queries about tournament rules can be sent to contact@tabletoprepublic.com

Doubles Format

Doubles Blood Bowl is simply played by two players on the same "team" playing two other players on an opposing "team" in two individual and separate games of Blood Bowl. (You are not sat side by side conferring over the same game of Blood Bowl!)
The cumulative score a team picks up each round will determine the place in the table. I.e, with the scoring format being 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss, if one player on the team wins and their partner draws, they gain 3 points as a team.

Team Building

Coaches are given a starting gold pieces allowance of 1,150,000 for the purposes of selecting players, re rolls, sideline staff and purchasing any inducements permitted. This is completely separate from the inclusion of additional skills, which will be covered under the "Skills Package" section.

The two coaches must select different teams - e.g. they may not both play Shambling Undead.

Inducements

Star Players:

For the purposes of Star Players, there are two "tiers". Tier 1 may not roster a star player. Tier 2 may roster one star player after a regular 11 have been rostered.

The following Star Players however are banned for Tier 2 teams:

Cindy Piewhistle
Bomber Dribblesnot
Skitter Stab-Stab
Estelle La Veneaux
Hakflem Skuttlespike
Griif Oberwald
Deeproot Strongbranch
Morg N' Thorg

Tier 1 (may not roster a Star Player):

Amazon, Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, High Elf, Lizardmen, Norse, Orc, Shambling Undead, Skaven, Underworld Denizens, Vampire, Wood Elf

Tier 2 (may roster a Star Player not on the ban list):

Black Orc, Chaos Chosen, Chaos Renegade, Elven Union, Goblin, Halfling, Human, Imperial Nobility, Khorne, Necromantic Horror, Nurgle, Ogre, Old World Alliance, Slann, Snotling, Tomb Kings

The only other inducements permitted are Bloodweiser Kegs, Halfling Master Chefs, and Bribes, which are paid for out of the 1,150,000 gold pieces referenced above prior to the tournament. No inducements are able to be purchased at the table, so spend that gold!

Skills Package

Once you have fully purchased your team as described above, you may distribute additional skills amongst your players. A coach may select ONE of the following two skill packages:

8 Primary Skills OR
5 Primary Skills and 2 Secondary Skills

No player may receive more than 2 additional skills from the above package.

A coach that wishes to take the latter skill package listed above may simply substitute one of the Secondary skills with a another Primary skill should they wish, but they will gain no further skills as a result (i.e. they will still have seven skills in total to allocate). Statistic increases are not an option.

Painting Requirements

All teams must be painted with at least 3 colours and be comprised of appropriate fantasy miniatures which reflect the positionals they are intended to represent.

Prayers To Nuffle

Any reference to rolling on the “Prayers to Nuffle” Table must utilise the Exhibition variant of the table found on page 103 of the Blood Bowl rulebook.

What You Need To Bring

All coaches must bring with them:
- One painted team
- One Blood Bowl pitch and dugouts
- Dice and Template

Rosters in Tourplay

Please ensure you have submitted your roster on Tourplay as soon as possible once the link becomes live (you will be notified of this via e-mail).

Scoring

The primary scoring system is 2 Points for a win, 1 Point for a draw, 0 Points for a loss. Tie breaking will take into account strength of schedule, followed by net touchdowns, followed by net casualties. These points will be accumulated in each pair for the team standings.
