Painting for cash?

Post by plasmoid »

Hi all,
maybe we could put together a list of people/websites that paint for cash.
Would be very handy when you've got a spankin' new team and no time to paint it.

As a customer service, I'll try to figure out what each company charges to paint a full team (15 men and a big guy) to a decent gaming standard. If we can get pictures then we can compare quality of work, but for now we'll just be checking prices - for level2/silver painting where possible.

http://www.blogger.com/home (Apoc/Goonerz)
£4.50 for regular 28mm mini's and £6 for big guys = full team: 73.5£ (+ shipping)
links to my previous works are found:
http://apoca6.blogspot.com/2011/05/hero ... -team.html
http://apoca6.blogspot.com/2010/08/chao ... -done.html

http://www.bluetablepainting.com/ (US)
15 "infantry" (@ 5.5$) and 1 large monster (12-15$) = 97.5$ (+shipping)
http://www.bluetablepainting.com/view_g ... leryID=343

http://www.warbossminiatures.com/ (US?)
15 basic models (@ 15$) and 1 large (30$) = 255$ (+ shipping)
no pictures available

http://www.oldguardpainters.com/
15 foot (@ 3.5$) 1 cavalry/gun(?) (7-10$) = 62.5$ (+ shipping)
http://ogp.zhilko.dk/Gallery/Fantasy/Wargames2/41 (not BB)

http://www.geocities.com/fir3breather/
15 foot (6£) 1 cavalry(?) (10£) = 100£ (+shipping).
Better painting than "level 2", sample pic: http://www.geocities.com/fir3breather/khemri.html

http://www.coredge.com/urban/index.htm
15 basic infantry (@ 10$) and 1 medium monster (24$) = 174$ (+shipping)
His level 1 (lowest) painting looks better than this topics "level 2".
sample level 1: http://www.coredge.com/urban/gallery/ga ... kaven3.gif

Anyone else?
Cheers
Martin

I'm seriously considering doing Star Players/Single minis for people (if there is interest.) Complete teams are a bit beyond my schedule atm sadly. The most I've managed from my own collection is 12/16 minis. :(

Hi Goonerz and Fen,
how about a rough estimate of what you'd charge?

Cheers

Honestly, I have little clue about how much I'd charge. I've just been musing it over recently. I don't know how much pros charge and I'd hate to undercharge because each mini represents about 3 - 4 Hours of work for me.

Obviously, I couldn't charge a pro rate, I'm not that standard, but also I don't know what would be competitive, while also covering time invested and materials.

Heh, not a lot of help am I? I should have a look at what other charge for their standard and try to compare.

I am open to offers though.

Ok, an ogre team left my studio/spare room  for £40 which included insured postage back to the states.

6 Ogre players (inc.thrower with gobbo) £3.50 each (£21)
Cheerleader £3.50
and a gobbo on his own - £2.00
So £26.5 for the team less postage

All my prices are on the site, although a few can vary as not all models are of a certain size/detail.

I can also strip and repaint your old models too (provided they were painted in actual modelling paint like Vallejo and citadel, otherwise you receive your fig back in a puddle of goo! :o ) Both metal and plastic.

One of the other pros of my service is that I have 3 GW staffers for back up on big jobs, so need an army in a hurry? Job done. 8)

Take a look on the site for more details, or drop me a pm or email.

As my site was built by myself it looks a liitle dull, i am looking to replace it with a snazzy new one, if you can help with this please let me know, i'd be most grateful

I have had 2 teams painted by an English pro at prices I considered pretty fair. (GBP150-ish for a cd team of 1 troll, 6 cd's, 8 hobgobs, 2 bulls and 3 cheerleaders, including assembly and postage). Recently also has a loose Mino done for GBP 12.

I like the level of detail he provides, and find him a very pleasant guy to communicate with.

If you want to see some pics, please send me a pm, and I will e-mail them to you.

If you want to get in touch with him directly, this can be done via sarahrichnmax@aol.com.

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

Forget to say that on top of the CHEAP prices, anyone that mentions TBB in their order gets 10% off painting costs!

I'm going to toss my name in the hat. I haven't figured out any details yet but I'll get a simple webpage up outlining some sort of service and terms.
