Great Big Blood Bowl Survey

Post by sann0638 »

Hi all,
the NAF are very happy to announce the first ever Great Big Blood Bowl Survey. We're going to try and get demographic and gaming information about as many Blood Bowl players of any description as we can over the next month or so. So, here's what you need to do!

1. Fill in the survey
2. Share it in whichever Blood Bowl forums you go to in as many different languages as possible. The questions are hopefully simple enough for Google Translate to cope with.
3. Tell your BB mates that don't go on forums where to find it (thenaf.net might be easiest?) and that they should fill it in too
4. Look forward to the results!

Results now available! http://www.thenaf.net/2015/10/survey-results/

All the best,
Mike (sann0638)

Surprised Fumbbl or other online options aren't covered.

Believe me... this was the single most difficult (and contentious) issue we faced in compiling the survey.

As Mike put forward on the FUMBBL forum post, I'd suggest that FUMBBL players please consider selecting the 'Other' option in pc/console play.

What was difficult or contentious about it?

Is this survey financed by Cyanide or what?

I play most of my games via Fumbbl, and the same goes for a lot of players. Hundreds of matches every day.

This won't be statistically very representative, if such options are ignored.

If people won't answer the survey just because they have to tick "Other" rather than having their own named option...

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Are you not curious about why "this was the single most difficult (and contentious) issue we faced in compiling the survey"?

I may be today a little susceptible, I know. But given all the free work the fumbbl guys have done... I would feel insulted.

Manuel, as above, we ask that Fumbbl coaches use the 'other' option provided - the format options in following questions should apply equally. Fumbbl coaches are certainly not being ignored, far from it. There's no need for anyone to finance this, because we're just a handful of volunteers trying to get some input from the community.

Koadah, if that's a genuine question I will happily discuss it with you by PM.

Ok. Sorry for the tone, if you feel it was inapropiate.

Then please, could you explain why was Fumbbl not another PC option like all the Cyanide's versions are?

And why was it "the most difficult..." thing?

I am happy to give the public answer. NAF are currently engaging with Fumbbl in a massive way with online tournaments. It is much harder to engage with Cyanide players, as they do not have a single home. We want Cyanide to support our survey, and felt they were less likely to do so if Fumbbl were mentioned. A judgement call, with which people are free to disagree.

Dumb question time. If you're interested in reaching Cyanide players, why haven't I seen news of this survey on their own blood bowl forum? Am I just blind?
