I agree with you. I just think that more people would post in English if they weren't going to be flamed for doing so.

True. People ought to be more tolerant of poor grammar and spelling. Not everyone has English as a first language (Austrailians for instance )

I wouldn't call it flaming. As far as I can recall it has happened just once in the last 6 months and we all know who that person was, and the following discussion about his manners. I consider this board much more friendly than many others and if non-English threads get hijacked, its usually in a friendly and humorous tone.

Damn, this whole time I have been posting in American. Well that will certainly change the flavour around here.
That explanes so much about your posts. ;)

I see no problem with people posting in a foreign language, providing they supply a translation, which means typing it twice, so its simpler to do once in as close to English as possible. This benefits the vast majority of the boards membership who can speak/write English. They may not do it very well, and this includes native English!!!!, but it is no excuse to start posting abussive emails.

Perhaps a brief english synopsis so we know what the discussion is to go along with the native language post so the poster can get their point across more elequently if their English isn't up to the task.

Oh and Ian: at least I can spell "Australians" ;)

Agree with you all. There are, i'm sure there are, different language boards around, that could serve as native boards for those not into languages, or not into english, and if you need a more precise answer or an official one, this would be the place.

No problem with guys writing in their languages, i just skip them, unless i can learn something from them. But i agree the main language here is english, and it should be.

By the way ... our spanish forum is having some problems recently, due to the fact that it is hosted in a lycos machine, and there are continuous database issues, critical warnings, and stuff .. But the database is one 15 Mbs!! (Maybe it is the maximum allowed for a db in lycos) We are searching for cheap solutions ... if you know or find someplace to host this board, please let me know.

Agree. The moderators has to understand what people write. If there is something important to write in a language other than english, can't it be done by private messages or email? If I would write here in Finnish, 99,9% of the forum members wouldn't have a clue, what I am writing about.

I am happy if my english is somewhat understood. I know my english isn't perfect, but hey, the mistakes color the messages and can cause many nice laughs :) Why worry about the mistakes, there may be some "pedant english teachers" online, but their remarks are easy to ignore ;)
