Team England Committee Updates

Post by Pipey »

Last month we formalised ongoing committee discussions with a Skype meeting.

We plan to put our proposal to community vote in November 2019.

We plan to split the proposal into two areas:

(1) A long term structure establishing committee roles, lengths of tenures, eligibility (committee, captaincy, TE player, who may vote), when future elections occur and what form they take etc.

(2) Selection policy - how the community decides who represents Team England.

We'll ask the community to vote yes/no for the acceptance of both aspects together. (1) would be a settled long term structure, (2) is more likely to be reviewed by future committees.

Detail on all of the above is to be finalised. We'll tell you as much as we can as we go, once it's agreed upon within the committee.

We have a further meeting planned later in the spring and will keep the community posted with any new outcomes.

Any questions or comments please post here.

Thanks

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Thanks Pipey and rest of committee.

It would be useful to have a rough idea of what the qualifying structure might be now... as the qualifying period for EB 2020 will be between NAFC 2019 and NAFC 2020 (I assume). So those of us who need to more strategically plan their tournament attendance need to know sooner!

If that's not possible then I'll just hope that my current plan is going to be good enough...

Cheers!

Pete

Hi Pete

We unfortunately can't give any assurances about what selection structure there may be, what aspects may be subjective or quantifiable.

We need time to agree our proposal, then we will ask the community to accept it. There may be a new structure in November. There may be no change from the previous system if the community votes no.

It's fair to say that doing well consistently across tournaments has normally been what's required. So maybe best to focus on that more generally until we have clear systems nearer the end of the year.

Anything we can tell you before we publish our proposal, we will. But you understand we need to talk things through thoroughly, cover all bases first.

Hope this helps, if not exactly what you were after.

Hi Pete, hi all

After further committee meetings we are in fact in a position to give some concrete information about the 12-month qualifying window and the minimum number of matches a Team England Eurobowl player must have played in that period to be eligible. Requirements are:

-A Team England Eurobowl player must have played 25 NAF games of Blood Bowl (tabletop, non-variant) in the 12-month qualifying window

-The qualifying window is May 1st 2019 until April 30th 2020, and so forth going forward i.e. start May to end April in the year before Eurobowl

The requirement is changed from a number of tournaments to a number of games. Playing in a tournament can involve only one or two matches, or six or more; we therefore felt it was more accurate for the currency to be games rather than tournaments. Organising tournaments would not count towards this minimum as it has done previously.

All of this, along with all other proposals, would be subject to community acceptance. We plan to put our new proposals to community vote in November this year.

Lots of other things are under discussion but are not finalised at this stage. We felt the above minimum needed to be published earlier than November since the qualifying window has already started (last month) and, as Pete demonstrates, potential Eurobowl players may wish to plan their tournaments for the year ensuring they will be eligible.
