New to the awesome game of Blood Bowl!
Hey everyone i'm new to Blood Bowl and must say, after having played all the "main" GW games i think Blood Bowl may be my favourite game thus far!
I've played a few games and just had a few questions, and it would be great if someone could help me out!
The first one is to do with assists (which according to 3die block is the hardest thing to get!). The rulebook says that to make an assist the player must NOT be in an opposing players tackle zone. Does the numbers game have anything to do with this, or can one person on the opposing team stop multiple players from assisting? Its sort of hard to communicate this via words but hopefully someone understands what i mean!
The second question i had is to do with pushing players into the crowd. If a player is on the sideline and i get the dice roll i need (pushback or open star) i get to knock him back. So if there is an empty square near the sideline do i have to push him back into that or can i choose to push him in the sideline?
The third question is to do with stuff that I've heard about not read. Ive read the latest rulebook (living rulebook 6 yeah?) and havent seen any mention of teams such as chaos pact and underworld, however ive heard (on 3die block and other pod casts) about people that use these teams and i sort of like the sound of them. Does this mean that they arent legal to play in LRB6? And if they are is there anywhere i can see a team roster?
And finally (and ifyouve read this far thank you! and if youve read this far and answered some questions an even bigger thankyou!) the last question i have is to do with league play. At the end of a game you have to roll to see if you add on one fan factor or lose one fan factor. Does this add/subtract from team value? or are they essentially "free"
Thanks heaps of you just read this essay, and thanks even more if you answer some questions!

One player can block multiple tackle zones, so if you have a player in a square next to more than one opponent they are all considered as marked for the purpose of working out assists. However if any of those players have guard then they can still provide the assist.

If there is a legal square to push a player into then you have to use that, the trick is manoeuvering the blitz so that there are no legal squares

Chaos Pact and Underworld (along with Slann) are unofficial teams created by the good people here but not authorised by Games Workshop for one reason or another, they are considered by everybody here to be perfectly acceptable (if a little weak) teams to use in tournaments and leagues and the rules can be found on these forums if you do a search. You probably wont be able to use them in Games Workshop though.
And finally (and ifyouve read this far thank you! and if youve read this far and answered some questions an even bigger thankyou!) the last question i have is to do with league play. Fan factor adds 1 to the tv of your team evry time you gain a point.
Welcome to the game, find yourself a good league and enjoy! You made a good choice.

Re: New to the awesome game of Blood Bowl!
You've definitely made the right choice. Blood Bowl is approximately 298 percent funner than the other stuff. Although I'm suprised you have time to play given that you're so busy with spurs. (tee hee)
Your questions have already been answered but I thought I'd elaborate on the pushing off the pitch stuff. Just imagine another strip of invisible squares down the side of the board to help you work out where you can push the dude. If you're blocking him straight towards the side of the board then the three squares you can choose to push him back to will all be in that invisible strip, make sense?
If you're blocking him "length ways" i.e. toward his end zone or yours, or you're blocking him diagonally, then there will be some vacant squares on the pitch that you HAVE to push him back into. As WilburS said, the trick is sorting out your block so that there aren't any vacant squares, which means positioning other players in them so that they are no longer vacant, which leaves the only choice a swift exit into the crowd.
Have fun!

Re: New to the awesome game of Blood Bowl!
Going to have to correct wilburS on one thing, chaos pact, slann and underworld are recognised by GW now and have been allowed into tournements. They just havnt made miniatures for them, and they arnt weak, they are a challenge, slann have a unique anti passing highly mobil play style, chaos pact can be whatever you want them to be with enough s.p.p. and underworld....is underworld mutation heavy rats and goblins, they are a challenge.
Its also not LRB6 its the 'competition rule pack'. LRB6 was what galak and the BBRC worked on, it was full of fluff and more appealing. Then GW cut out all the fluff, gave galak the heave ho (which was an appaling thing to do and the reason for a lot of the GW hate you see here) and renamed it the competiton rule pack. LRB6 is what its occasionally called because it follwed LRB5. More of a fan nick name, not the offical name.
Any way....welcome to the forum enjoy your stay.

Can't do it from my smartphone but I will will go down the libary in about 1/2 hour and give you the link. Is your email address on your profile? Because I could email you the CRP, the extra teams and some playbooks if you want them.
Edit: its a bank holiday so I can't unfortunatly everytime I try to click the URL it starts the PDF download immediatly. So I can't even copy and paste it from my phone.

Three new teams document from the NAF site:van der vaart wrote:ah cool thanks inkpwn! However im still struggling to find the rules for these teams, anyone got a link please and thankyou?
http://www.thenaf.net/files/NewTeams_LRB6.pdf
As a footnote ... these teams have been used in 2 different GW run major tournaments (there are only 3). As of 2011, ALL Blood Bowl events that I know of will allow them (since the NAF is now running the Blood Bowl).
GW's rep to Cyanide even posted that GW was okay with the 3 new teams being part of an expansion for the video game.
So the only reason they did not get in the CRP rulebook was because of GW's rule about not having minis for them. But everyone that counts ... including the NAF that is the world body for Blood Bowl tournaments and Jervis Johnson who wrote the game considers them a part of the rules.

That will be at the end of next year (2012) when they realize they miss this great game and decide that they should make a christmas-box for it, including several teams and themed boards.
After that, the world ends according to the Mayas.
So I for one hope that GW kinda... forgets Bloodbowl
Welcome to the boards. Van der Vaart ...?? If you are even slightly Dutch, you should come to the Dutch Open and some other great tournaments here.

I don't think they predicted the end of the world really, I think it's something to do with an end to the current age of humanity and the start of a new one. I think it's the age of Aquarius next.JaM wrote:That will be at the end of next year (2012) when they realize they miss this great game and decide that they should make a christmas-box for it, including several teams and themed boards.

This both gives me hope and makes me afraid to be disappointed when no expansion is made.

Nelson is the GW rep in charge of the relationship/license with GW:
Just for the record.
Chaos Dwarfs are elligible in Blood Bowl, GW is not preventing them from being in the game. A decision was made early on regarding asset sharing, nothing sinister or personal to these guys. Maybe we'll see them down the road (maybe even brand new teams?) who knows...
