What to take for a TV1150 chainsaw themed tournament

Post by stareater »

Hi!

I'm currently organizing a somewhat whacky chainsaw themed tournament in Umeå, Sweden called Buzzqvarna Cup and I'm to be the odd man out. I'm having a hard time choosing what team to pick in case I need to play. I want a build that is creative, but still somewhat competative (playing halflings in the last tournament was a humbling experience). Please come up with some creative rosters and help me out.

Rules:

- Basic Rules: BB Official Competition Rules (LRB6/CRP)
- Style: Swiss, 4 games, Resurrection
- Each coach chooses one team form (Competition Rules + Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld) and may buy a team with Team Value 1.150.000. You may buy players, cheerleaders, assistant coaches, fan factor, rerolls and an apothecary. 100.000 of this team value may also be used to buy skills (regular or doubles) for the cost specified in the rule book (20K for regular, 30K for doubles). Each player may only have one skill and no skill may be bought more than twice in the team.
- Chainsaws are allowed during this tournament and the referee will never eject a player on the grounds of carrying one.
- A player of your choice on your team (i.e. not star players) gains a free Chainsaw from the sponsor Buzzqvarna, i.e. he gains the Chainsaw, Secret Weapon, Loner and No Hands skills for this tournament. No extra skill may be added to this player.
- Two star player allowed. No other inducements with the exception of Halflings which can have their chef and goblins that may buy bribes.
- Each team must have 11 players, Star player not included.
- Clones: Same starplayer may play for both teams in the same game, i.e. No highlander rule.
- Scoring: Win +15, Draw +10, Loss +5, Concede: 0, +1 per Chainsaw Foul/Casualty

I have two ideas for a build but I was hoping for more suggestions.

Nurgle:
1 Beast with the Chainsaw
4 Warriors (2 Block, 1 Leader)
2 Pestigors (1 Extra Arms)
4 Rotters
Max Spleenripper
3 FF

Chaos Dwarf:
1 Minotaur with block or claw
6 Chaos dwarves (1 Guard, 1 Leader, 1 with the Chainsaw)
5 Hobgoblins (1 with sure hands)
Nobbla Blackwart
1 Apo
1 RR
3 FF

i would definitly go for a roster with access to at least a chainsaw player/starplayer, and based this roster on a fouling startegy

so, like (why not) a chaos pact roster, with Ugroth (Ar9 is better for chainsaw)
11 linemen (leader, block wrestle, wrestle, chainsaw)
1 elf (dodge)
1 troll
1 ogre
1 gobelin (for OTTD)
1 Ugroth
2 team reroll

(wrestle is a better skill than block for a fouling strategy)

I would be tempted to go for wood elf or slann, to get a leaping chainsaw.

I have though about it, but I would take three chainsaws (Regular, Extra Chainsaw and Nobbla).

The problem with the leaping chainsaw is the added loner skill. The odds of getting hurt by a bad jump worries me.

But a leaping slann catcher (2+ leap, 2+ kickback roll) would be awesome!!
I love the sound of this tournament... :P
