Best colour scheme for a 2nd Ed orc team?
I have a colour scheme in mind for my 3rd edition orc team (the traditional Orcland Raiders scheme that I painted up once before when I painted on commission:
I'd really like to do them pretty much like the boxed set again (This is a big thing for me, I do not paint minis up 'as per the box' but this time I am going to make an exception).
However, I also have a team of 2nd Ed Orcs that I'd like to paint up in a different colour scheme.
I know that, using colour theory, the best colour scheme for Orcs is using red:
This is because red is the colour opposite of green, so it goes really well.
However, I don't like the 'Christmas Orc' effect, perhaps best encapsulated when white is added. (Green and Red together, get it?)
So - what is the best colour scheme for orcs with traditional green skin (other than red and black, or red and silver)?
I guess I could go a brown skin orc, but I don't think I could bring myself to on the old school 2nd Ed minis. I'd love to see some pics of orc teams that people colour wise think work well.

Re: Best colour scheme for a 2nd Ed orc team?
No suggestions?
Purple / Yellow?
Black / Silver / White? (AKA the Oakland Raiders)
I was considering plain white (with a 'stripe colour'), but I think that would be more interesting with the current boxed set orcs.
Here's how the Orcland Raiders, the Gouged Eye and the Death's Heads looked in 2nd Ed.
So - please do help... Suggestions please!!!!

Re: Best colour scheme for a 2nd Ed orc team?
I love the old fire/orange color scheme. When they release the parts for a new Orcland Raider set, that's probably what I will paint them up as.
I don't like the look of red costumes on Orcs either. I've thought about going orange or some variation on the new Gouged Eye Orcs, because the red/white just doesn't do it for me.
Pedda's suggestion of Black/Yellow would be my second choice. First being the Red/Orange of the original boxed set.

Re: Best colour scheme for a 2nd Ed orc team?
I've been around the world and back looking at colour schemes.
Thanks so much for posting Faust and Pedda - Pedda I'd not seen that team before - so thank you (it is, however, too close to the colour scheme that I have planned for my 3rd Ed. team - although it could mean Greaser Geargrinder could easily migrate between the two teams!)
I think I might take a traditional Purple/Yellow scheme, and repaint my Chaos Dwarves (who are already in that scheme) a blue and orange combo (they need a repaint anyway....)

There was a sweet looking Goblin team at Warhammer Fest with pink and yellow...

I'm a British Freebooter, will play for any team including Undead (I have my own Apothecary). Good rates.

Wow, love the gold on those Orcs. How did they get that effect, wash with brown or nuln oil maybe?
I've been thinking about doing the new Dwarf team in gold/red, so that would be perfect. It seems there is so much to learn about painting, and everyone has a million different tips at times.
