Ultrasound Cleaning Device for stripping miniatures?
Hi guys!
I just saw an ad for an small ultrasound cleaning device for home use. I was wondering if that is a helpful tool in getting even the tiniest bits of paint off of my miniatures when stripping them from paint. You know, in those hard to reach areas.
Does anybody have any experience with them?
Cheers!

Re: Ultrasound Cleaning Device for stripping miniatures?
I tend to do all miniature stripping at work as I have an unltrasonic bath in my lab. I pop the mini into a jar of solvent, put the jar in the bath, switch it on and leave it while I get on with my work.
For the most part it does speed the process up but I don't think I would buy one personally. If you're constantly in a hurry to have a mini stripped then maybe it is worthwhile.

Well, sounds good though. Less brushing the mini!

That is definitely true. Even if household versions are not as strong as lab models (which I do not know if that's the case) it can only help to reduce the amount of scrubbing needed.Saebelsultan wrote:Well, sounds good though. Less brushing the mini!
It will be interesting to hear how you get on using it (I have just assumed that you buying one now ).

Hi Sabelsultan!
Yea, I just blogged about this recently. I bought one and it ended up saving a lot of time. I was able to get all the primer off a set of the BB16 Dwarves, except for a couple areas that stained a bit. A new coat of primer, and you'd never know.
I used Super Clean aka Purple Power as the stripping solution. Whatever stripping solution you use, just be careful, as I've had different plastics react differently.

Thanks faust_33!
Very entertaining read!
I might just go out and buy one then. There are still a lot of Blood Bowl minis that need a good scrubbing! A lot!

Re: Ultrasound Cleaning Device for stripping miniatures?
Thanks Sabelsultan! I'm pretty happy with the $20 I spent on the Ultrasonic cleaner. I don't have to strip minis too often, but when I do, that is sure going to come in handy.
Next time I do it, I'll have to take pics of the step by step for the blog.
