New skill field
We've house ruled that on a roll of 9 a player can gain access to a new skill field instead of getting a skill.
We also have a rule that you can't take a stat skill (str or ag) unless you have at least 3 in the stat.
Using this rule, I have a blitzer who has learned dodge and gaurd and will learn sidestep ASAP.
It is an option which is occasionaly used, about a third of the teams have a player or two who have used it.

I don't have to be faster than the Ogre, just faster than you!

I recon that it should include physicial traits... the roll of 9 means the player instead of training went out and found a scource of warpstone... and may mutate later on dubs...
and mad lord, the idea doesn't take away dubs... dubs are still required to get traits and also skills from the other fields.
The 9's rule just means you can get a greater range of skills available on a later non-dubs roll, by sacrificing the imediate learning of a skill.
9's isn't useful for a team like skaven, who have all skill feild access anyway, but for choas ort halfling (my two main teams) it's very useful...

I have taken it on a human blitzer. Blodge makes my gaurd hard to get rid of, and if they get Sidestep, that should get worse...Alesdair wrote: 9's isn't useful for a team like skaven, who have all skill feild access anyway, but for choas ort halfling (my two main teams) it's very useful...
And jump up would be really nice.
