scatter templet/weather

It's not a rule and it's no biggie to me but I usually have each coach roll a die to determine weather. Plus if one coach rolls a 3 or 4 it's automatically perfect weather. Then the player who calls the flip the other coach places the scatter templet. We keep the scatter templet in one position for the whole game. It gets confusing when coach picks it up and changes every roll. Plus there is the chance for mistakes or cheating.

What are some other methods people use?

Same as you. Scatter template stays put, coaches roll 1 dice each for weather. We don't use the "coin" to determine kick off choice - but roll for it.

It never even occured to me to move the scatter template around. Sometimes my players have a favoured direction but they accept the randomness of the d8.

When I used to play by conventional rules, we'd tend to roll one d6 each for weather.

Coins went out of fashion a long time ago as they're open to abuse - it's relatively simple to toss a coin to achieve a desired result.

Hey, Bike...our league uses a schedule to determine home games, plus John Lewis' weather tables from BBMag. Each team must have a home stadium and must choose a climate before the season, which can't be changed once it's chosen, until the season ends. Then, every game, the home team coach rolls both dice for the weather (unless it's underground). We then dice off (2d6) for the choice of kicking or receiving, and the losing coach places the scatter template, which doesn't change during the game.

The climates, BTW, are Temperate (the standard weather table), Arctic, Desert, Mountain, Coastal, and Jungle, with Domed/Underground as another option.

Whew...lotta typing there.

Pretty much the same, like Ian we roll for the Kickoff rather than use a coin.

Quite interesting that idea of different weather for different stadiums.
Did you came up with tables for each weather or were they published in any mag?

I believe these are the ones he is referring to. They are in a mag... and probably elsewhere on the net...

Oh, I should mention that I altered some of the weather tables slightly to work with PBEM a little easier.
