Our Ally/Big Guys Rules
Hi all,
ally rules have a tendency of becoming overpowered.
This is our rule for including extras on your team:
In addition to the basic roster, each team has 2 specific allied races, and some have access to a big guy ally (as specified in the LRB).
Each team also has 2 "ally slots".
It costs 1 slot to add an extra position player to your team (no duplicates).
It costs 1 slot to add an allied race lineman.
It costs both slots to add a big guy.
It costs both slots to add an allied race position player.
This gives lots of interesting opportunities.

One of the better ally rules i've seen.
However, it still gives Wardancers, Gutterrunners to a couple of teams that can do a lot of harm with them, even if they can't take a Big Guy then. A single AG4 player in an un-agile team can make an evil difference.
Imo any ally rules are killing the flavor of race specific strengths and weaknesses.

Hi all,
OK - here is the list.
Since all races had to have 2 allied teams, and there were balance issues to consider as well, sometimes we had to be a bit creative.
But, as you'll notice we use a few new teams, as well as some modified ones:
Imperial (i.e. human): Vampire + Dwarf
Orcs: Beastman + Marauder (both are basically the Chaos team).
Skaven: Beastman + Marauder
Dwarf: Imperial + Kislev
Dark Elf: Vampire + Daemon (all AV7, much ST4 team)
High Elf (modified with MA-1 and AV+1): Bretonnian + Wood Elf
Wood Elf: High Elf + Bretonnian
Chaos Dwarf: Orc + Goblin
Goblins: Skaven + Orc
Halfling: Dwarf + Wood Elf
Beastmen: Orc + Daemon
Marauder: Norse + Daemon
Norse: Dwarf + Marauder
Amazon: Norse + Slann (leap team)
Lizardmen: Slann + Amazon
Necro: Imperial + Vampire
Khemri: Daemon + Necro
[snip 7 homemade teams]

Out of interest, on say a Norse team, would a dwarf join if they already had a Marauder?

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Hi Alesdair,
>am i blind or is there no mention of who is Chaos's allies...
well, we use modified chaos teams: Beastmen and Marauder.
Beastmen is a chaos team where "warriors" (Bestigor) have horns but AV8.
Marauders is a chaos team with AV+1, but no horns on the "beastmen" (Marauders).
>and i can't imagine a halfing team that would take dwarf or woodelf players instead the treeman big'un ally
Probably not,
but a wood elf lineman and a longbeard isn't half bad
BTW, it is worth noting that we do allow our allies to use team rerolls.
