lame ass GW staff

Post by Freshmetal »

Went into local GW this week to take a peek at some of the stuff, and the bloke working there spent ten minutes trying to get me to come to a gaming evening to play in the 40k Eye of Terror campaign before I could tell him that I don't play 40k! Then he started telling me of how they can get no one to come along to them, so I proposed trying to get some BB games to build interest and possibly start a local league. He just looked at me and went "nah." If GW aren't willing to get people into BB, I've got no hope!

Any ideas?

yeah what most of those dorko store owners don't seem to get is that BB is a "gateway game"...you play BB for a while and then you get into some of the other GW games. that's definitely how it happened for me.

maybe if they promoted bb more 2 years ago, they'd have more ppl in their 40k game now. instead he just looks at the simple numbers and says "Blood bowl isn't a very big money maker...a guy buys 1 team and MAYBE one boxed set and he's done!"

jackasses

well i have joined fumbbl but i can't play here @ work because of the firewall here. plus they have the settings such that i can't change the screen resolution either so unless i'm willing to play on my own free time at home (which currently i'm not) then it will be a LONG time before i get to actually play on there.

back to the point, those guys are not your average bb coaches either. i'm talking about guys like most of the guys in my league, who own a team or two each, and some own a bb box set, some don't. guys who play on weekends occasionally and don't read tbb.com or whatever.

now that you made me think, i'm trying to think how many bb teams i do own...2wood elf, 2orc, 2 dark elf, skaven, undead, 2 unpainted plastic humie/orc teams, and a few extra random guys, like a chaos warrior or two, a few beastmen, a few of the star players, a few big guys, plus bits orders for extra catchers, blitzers, black orcs, throwers, etc. and of course then there's refs, coaching staff, etc etc.

Was it the manager? If not go back and suggest it to him. He may be more interested.

The other thing to do is just ask to put up a notice saying you are starting a league (probably give it at least a month) and asking people to get in touch.

Also post here, www.bloodbowl.com and if you are a member NAF.

The GW BB team:
0-12 Shop Staff 6/2/2/7 Really stupid
0-6 Fanboys 7/3/3/7 Frenzy

The team gains a free Head coach "STUDIO STAFF MEMBER". The Had coach may change the rules of the game at will, as long as the rule is utterly ludicrous.

I had to add the Shadowforge Geridiron Team now, too. Just primed and ready for my webside  Fantastic minis, cant wait for the support staff. Maybe the next team i will paint...

I've had the same experiance too, when I mentioned BB all I got back was a blank look :o

As to owning teams welllll.....

Chaos
Chaos Dwarf
Chaos Marauder
Dark Elf (2nd and 3rd editions)
Dwarf
Goblin
Halfling
High Elf
Human ( plastic and metal)
Lizardmen
Norse
Orc (1 plastic, 2 metal)
Skaven
Snotling
Undead x 2
Vampire
Wood Elf
plus all the various hangers on, unfortunately only three of the teams are painted! Still when the evenings draw in and the missus goes out ........who knows maybe I'll be able to get the paintbrushes out and get some serious painting done!

ALl the mini lists have been piled off into their own topic (at least, they should have been if this thing works the way I think it does....otherwise... )
