All-stars game - How to run it.
As a one-off end of season game I want to have a All-stars game between our 2 conferences. I want to pick 4 players from each team and have a big showdown between them.
Whats the best way of coaching these teams? Should we just pick one "Head" coach and have the other coaches offer "advice" from the sidelines, or go for total chaos and have each coach move their own players?
I want something memorable and fun, in the hope they might want another legue soon.

We've always done so: The first classed in conference A plays the first turn against the last classed in conference B, the second turn is between A2-B3 etc. Obviously the other coaches MUST yell "don't do that." "No, that block's suicidal" and so on, otherwise everybody's fun is spoiled.

Our friend deep from the Moria mines has a suggestion that I'd probably use as a base for All-Star game rules.
In addition: SI's and deaths are considered as BH's. Nothing would upset a coach more than having his star getting killed in a game in which he had no control over the players. Additionally, SPP's wouldn't be awarded, or if they are, then any skills gained should be decided and skill rolls rolled by the players own coach.
Additionally, to make it a really spectacular event, you could give out additional rerolls or give +1's to all rolls to encourage spectacular attempts. Having all the coaches watching it wouldn't be fun if the teams play over-conservative cage or something like that. Encourage them to try things they wouldn't dream of in ordinary gameplay - series of 5+ dodges for example! And if you want to go that route, you could consider removing TO's instead to encourage moves like that. Additionally, you could give them extra skills too - use this as a situation to introduce rarely taken skills to the coaches. Perhaps everyone gets a random "rare" skill for this match only.
As the aim was:

IMO this can be reached by encouraging funny plays, lots of touchdowns etc. The ideas above could help in that respect.

Well, I don't have to worry about SI's and deads as all the coaches will have new teams anyway.
I trying to drum up interest at the moment by having one-off same races matches. Tonight it was 2 TR100 Dwarf teams, and as expected in was a 0-0 with the ball and action mainly staying in centre field.
As "unofficial" referee (I didn't have a game tonight) I pointed out mad plays (for dwarfs) to both players, so I like Mestari's idea of adding +1 to dice rolls, though I may limit it to 3 times per turn.

Credit where it's due, a lot of feedback came on the BB Central a good while back. I know Zombie had some input, forget who else was there.Zy-Nox wrote:I was gonna say that,DaFrenchCoach wrote:Darkson, you should find some ideas there:
