Amazon Team debut

Post by Cam... »

Chaps

Played my first game with an Amazon team last night. Wow.
They took me an age to paint and left me cold with their odd shaped feet but, boy do they move. I spent the evening dodging round the board just for the hell of it, and although I finished with only four gals standing at the end, had beaten a rather confused Norse oponent 2-0. (I should point out that I'm a 3rd Edition player so perhaps this team is awash with skills using this version of the rules)

Amazons

How do you keep the blitzers, linegirls etc apart??
My regular Amazon opponent only has all of his linegirls painted but doesn't need all of them .. so he uses them as blitzers too!!

Makes life rather miserable for my Norse (who usually beat his team though .. )

With the Amazons you really should paint the base rims in different colours.

Here they are if you don't know the 'correct' colours:

Blitzers: Red
Blockers: Green
Throwers: White
Catchers: Yellow
Linemen: Grey

Amazons seem to have a natural gift for beating Norse teams. Must be the fear of sleeping on the couch or getting the ol'e rolling pin to the head when they get home

I actually just beated his team (Big Booby Trappers) to a pulp with my norse (5-0, 6 casualties and a dead Unicorn)

We play with a Unicorn BG
8-4-3-8, Sprint, Sure Hoofs, Horn, Razor Sharp Horn, Skitterish (Bonehead) 130K

This one didn't survive but the previous one (HOrny Hoofs) managed a 38 casualties in less than 29 games (dunno exactly) (We use some 'transfer' system to keep teams from becoming too powerfull )

Rather tough that horse was ...

My team is painted with Green bikinis, but I have used yellow for the top half on the Blitzers. They're face on figures, whilst the linegirls are sculptured sideways so it's not too tricky.
I don't do coloured bases, and the Unicorn never made it passed customs so doesn't figure in the team (I actually mail ordered a seperate team to avoid the unicorn) :-?

as for kicker bases, even in 2e there wasn't an official kicker base color, we used blue...

If your teams ain't got all the positions you need or they're hard to tell which is which, just paint their helms with the correct colours, red helms for blitzers, team coloured for linemen, green for blockers, etc. The bases represent the part of the pitch where the player stands on, so it should be green. This is my opinion. You can always use the shoulder pads, their hair, boots, glooves, but leave the bases green. Thats just about it.

After a full length beating, one must think that no matter how miserable you are, an uncertain life is better than a certain death!
