Don't know how to help you then.

My best thought is to get them to move to On-Pitch Spellcasters ... at least those rules are fairly balanced, are racial in nature, the Orc coach still gets a good spell, and they are supposed to get printed in BB Mag soon which would give them some extra weight.

Other than that ... no idea how to "convince" someone that the LRB is better than 3rd.

I've already handled the Star Player matter in quite a satisfactory way. And they'll bust my head if I try to introduce a new house rule. Thanks anyway, Toby.
Galak, it's a bit hard to me to have access to the BB magazine. Still, as I've already told to Toby, they feel an instinctive adversion to any house rules I try to introduce.

You may not have a sucessful season or team but I don't see any reason not to let these guys play with the rules they want. I've tried lots of tactics to try and get the guys I play with to come around to using straight LRB rules and this or that but many of them have caused people to leave the group or gotten me expelled for a time.

When it comes down to it, having people to play with is the truely important thing. You may find that the things you're concerned about don't affect your group the way you think they will. If they do make things unballanced or worse, then you guys can discuss what you've seen during the season and make changes then.

That's sounds sensible, big Cactillion. Guess I'll have to conceed them their demands (well, I managed to convince them to allow both options: Wizards freebooted at 50,000 ot hires permanently at 150,000). Now, I just need to show them that Thrud is fun and should be allowed in the league.

In my league we allow Star players to be permanently hired for their normal costs, BUT they then have an "upkeep" of 10% of their cost, which you have to pay after every game, if you wish to retain the player.
For example, after Paul's Undead team had difficulties scoring and dealing with other team's attacks, he decided to hire the Vampire star player. This cost him 180k, plus 18k per game. This of course has been a MASSIVE dent in his teams finances, but has allowed him to win games where he would not have won otherwise.

On the subject of wizards, we just freeboot them as the LRB says, but I am interested in the idea of on-pitch spell casters. Anyone got a link?

If one piece of bad luck will lose you the game, you do not deserve to win it

www.midgardbb.com

it's the website of a forum user, his name is Galak. He is as resourceful as his website is. You will find the new secret weapon rules there as well - that covers 7 of the Starplayers.

have fun.
