I think I worked out the basics after 4 or 5 games.

As for tactics, I dn't think I've really worked them out yet

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I knew how to play the game in probably less than five games...as for strategy, you never know all of that. Any game where you learn a new way to do something was a good one, regardless of the outcome.

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.

Learning the rules: about 3-6 games if a veteran is teaching you, and about 100 if you have to figure it out using only the book and don't have access to the internet. Until i logged on to Blood Bowl Central, there were many rules that i wasn't playing properly because i hadn't read them as they were meant, even though i had read the two books completely about 3 or 4 times!

Learning the strategy: that takes eternity. I'm still learning stuff after many hundreds of games played.

Now this I agree 100%. As far as picking up the game, I guess it took me 10 games or so to get the basics down. Assists were tough to learn too. I always find something I've misread something or misinterpreted something. It's probably not a bad idea to re-read the rule book once in a while, in conjunction with any additions or subtractions in the Annual/Errata section.

agree with grumble.
Some of our players learned very quickly and are great opponent just after 5/10 games.
But some others still need to practice.
The most difference is, IMO , some have found their way to play with the race they like, and some still dont know wich race to play...
