Something that REALLY irritates me

In my experience with Wood Elves, they get pounded on pretty hard. That Armor of 7 hurts. The agility is nice, but I have had an entire team of wood elves decimated by a concentrated attack by Chaos. Playing them in a league was almost impossible because of the number of casualties they took. The cost of replacing players so I could field a full 11 players was too high. Perhaps, though, this points to an inability to play the team, rather than a flaw with the team itself.

NOpe, thats just how it goes, welfs are f*****g expensive vecause they are the best players in the game. They have to be hard to replace. I love humans per instance because they are cheaper.

After a full length beating, one must think that no matter how miserable you are, an uncertain life is better than a certain death!

.. guys, good news!! I BEATED WOOD ELVES LAST MATCH!!!
After sending out their Wardancers (the 2 of them), my chaos dwarves had a realy peacefull second part of the match, and scored after some 4 turns waiting for the time to finish (yes, i know that's not quite fair, but the two WD were only KO!)
I could even score the TD with one of my Bull Centaurs!! yipeee!!
greetings to the Fellowship of the Anti-tightpantsies ...

The Wood Elf team in question is 1) played by a very good Blood Bowl player, 2) has now had three wins with 5 or more TDs. He put 7 past a Skaven team last season and 3) Has apparently been pretty lucky with his winnings rolls, so he has 14 players.
People do realise the AV7 isn't that much of a handicap when you only get to throw one block a turn (your blitz) don't they? And in my experience it rarely matters how good your defence is, they're so fast that they get to choose where to attack pretty much at will.
I think I've been pitted against wood elves a grand total of 5 times now, and have lost 4 of those. I've seen them pull some absolutely crazy stuff in that time, and once I was very much robbed by cards. The pattern is generally that my dice rebel on me at key moments (eg last night I managed a double 1 on a catch by my AG5 runner, and missed a pick up roll at the start of a drive with the other Runner. A previous game it took one runner 5 rolls to pick the ball up.), and my opponent starts pulling off wacky and unlikely plays, usually only needing dodge when hes conveniantly already skipped through my longbeards on a string of sixes.
Its not that I have bad luck per se, its just the timing of the swings is usually dire for me.
I dunno....everyone has a nemesis team (Woody's is Dwarfs..

It can be a delicate balance with Woodies. One minute they're leaping and cavorting around in their silly tights like Rudoph Nureyev and everything is going well, then some Wardancer fails a leap and lands on his arse. From then on it's nothing but the sound of breaking bones and screaming elves*
Once they lose that initiative they can really cop a pasting.
Oh and my Nemesis is Del's Humans. No-one elses, just Del's.
Marcus
*Is it sad of me that as I was typing that was chuckling an evil chuckle?

If only that had happened last night...I would have only been 3-1 down at half time and recieving...Marcus wrote: then some Wardancer fails a leap and lands on his arse. From then on it's nothing but the sound of breaking bones and screaming elves*

face it Marcus, you are very sane yet with a slight undertone of evil mixed in. I can never keep the chuckle in when talking about unfortunate things happening to other BB races players
I long for a good mid field ruck so that 11 of my 12 Guard players can tear in and say "thankyou that's 2 dice I choose" all day long. there is a Welf coach in the NBBL, I don't think he will make it to the inter-divisional quarter finals so I won't get to play him.
Shame

I wouldn't say they're my nemesis (W1 T1 L1 in tournaments), I just don't like the stumpy little b*stards. Oh a Longbeard with Guard, how original and exciting.Thadrin wrote: I dunno....everyone has a nemesis team (Woody's is Dwarfs..).

I don't, as yet, have a single player with guard. I have a Blitzer with Tackle, and Longbeards with Stand Firm (two of them) and Mighty Blow+Dauntless, but no Guard. Yet.
Annoyingly, my Trollslayers keep getting my MVPs, so one of them broke the three skill mark last night (Mighty Blow, Strip Ball, and now Pass Block before you ask. Developing a Defensive End type here.)

Fair enough, but that's 3 doubles out of 4 on the LBs. You know it's coming. Guard/Stand Firm. Ugh.Thadrin wrote:I don't, as yet, have a single player with guard. I have a Blitzer with Tackle, and Longbeards with Stand Firm (two of them) and Mighty Blow+Dauntless, but no Guard. Yet.

actually YES, only sometimes (bad luck, lotsa dead an so on) things do seem to go 'squish'
If luck is on your side you can beat allmost any team big time.
But some times ....
I once lost 3 of my WE in a game agains my own Norse team. The Norse got through to the final but my WE are still suffering from that defeat ...

Bang to rights guvnah.
Gonna get it on my blitzers too and tag team them in the wide zones.
I won't go for more than 5 though. That'd be boring. It was all I could do to stop myself from taking it on the Trollslayer's third skill roll.

Woodies are dwarves nemisis??!!
How?
I play this guy in my league and our games work like this.
He recieves, he holds the ball in a cage and quite happily takes seven turns to push up the field, no problem. Quite happily hitting elves with his mighty blows and dirty players. I lose on average three elves a drive. On his eighth turn he takes his &*%@# runner with AG 4, dodge, surehands, pass and runs the ball in the last six squares.
I receive and I score quickly in order to try to score again. He tries exactly the same strategy. The result is either a draw or he wins 2-1.
Tackle, block, sure hands, thick skull, frenzy, dauntless (bye bye treeman), mighty blow, dirtyplayer and that &*%@# runner of his. Once a dwarf team has that cage up. All they need is patience. I'm so
that I'm gonna hire a wizard next time and try to kill the beardy AG4 half pint.
Sorry I just played him again, he beat me horribly and he killed my elf with guard. What makes it worse is he's so unbearably nice about it all
