I think it's odd that the big guy rules that were put out by the mail order trolls are held up as canon!
Why can't the dwarfs have a steam powered robot? OH NO! WE COULDN'T CONTRADICT THE SMART MAIL ORDER TROLLS!

I would personally like to see the big guys rules dropped or radically revised, the way I see the situation at the moment is that big guys give rise to an arms race that all but a few teams can compete in.

It's a shame because I like them for fluff reasons but I don't think they add anything to the game.

Because most of use never liked either Robot or Stone Golem suggestions. Ogres are the best choice for the dwarf teams.

Keep secret weapons as secret weapons, and let dwarves have big guys just like most other teams.

I totally agree with longshot.

I also see no necessity to give every team an big guy. The dwarves are a bit lame on position players, agreed. But that could be fixed by giving them an extra Blocker position or some extra blitzers (like the Dark Elves had ...)

Personally I think the Dark and High Elves do very well without an Big Guy ...

I could agree not to have a BG for the dwarves, if they were compensated too, just like the high and dark elves were. A new blocker position would be nice.

I think some people don't realise that in the official rules Dwarfs ARE allowed to have an ogre right now.

The problem I have is that with the low number of positional players, no s4 players and still no secret weapons (and then probably only one per team except gobbos, while dwarfs should be allowed at least 2 imho) and every other bashing team having not onlyat least 4 S4 players and a Big Guy, Dwarfs need to take advantage of being allowed an ogre.
From their background, however, Dwarfs should be monoracial!!!

Mestari: Just for your interst - this was how we fixed it ...

Dwarven Blocker MV-3 ST-4 AG-2 AV-9 Thick Skull, Stand Firm

Cost - 90.000 gc

You could fit them into your dwarven Cockerel (0-2 optional). After a long playtesting, we mad up an additional "New-World Dwarven Team" (like the Dwarf Giants) ... They look like this:

Dwarven Blitzer 0-4 MV-6 ST-3 AG-3 AV-9 Dauntless, TS, Block
Dwarven Blocker 0-4 MV-3 ST-4 AG-2 AV-9 TS, Stand Firm
Dwarven Thrower 0-2 MV-5 ST-3 AG-3 AV-8 TS, Sure Hands
Dwarven Lineman0-12MV-4 ST-3 AG-2 AV-9 TS, Block, Tackle

This Team did really well without an big guy. This team was liked in our league and became an housruled-optional team. The prices of the players changed a bit of course, but if you are interested in more, just let me know ...

The Blocker sounds like a nice replacement for a Big Guy, but maybe it could be compensated by the secret weapon rules...

That would be better as Dwarfs already have 4 positions.

I Hate Dwarves! Ive never beaten a dwarf team since i started playing BB.
Saying that i dont see why they should not have an Ogre in their team. Ogres are just like big Dwarfes- Both like to drink, fight, are strong ugly and dumb(had to get that in some where, sorry)

I say yes to ogres in dwarf teams.

The big weakness of the Deathroller is not having block and NEVER GETTING IT

An ogre WILL get block, and more skills (like Guard) after that!

The main disadvantage of the Deathroller is in my eyes, that it is a secret weapon, and therefore fall under this rule. Sounds like forcing them to use secret weapons ...

That won't be much of a problem basically, but in effect it's not on par with an big guy.

Well, before it gets sent off, it might have done a lot of damage already; just put it in when you are on the offensive; not before; I seem tot remember (from a long time ago) that it can't be sent off before it has even played a drive.

Make sure you play a long drive (if possible) and to use the roller to its fullest and it will have done damage when sent off.

But still, an ogre is better.
An ogre even brings up the average speed of a Dwarf team!!!

If Dwarfs only get one weapon, I think i'll keep my ogre and get a chainsaw instead of a roller; might be more fun if ever it gets started...

Well I don't like to paste an Big Guy into an team just to have one ... concerning the Bloodbowl-History there was an article that dwarves and elves dislike big-guys (elves with the exception of treemen)
