Fix WA so it doesn't make the big guy useless, and drop the ogre from Flings, Gobbos, and Dwarves. WA should just get dropped for Boneheaded, or changed so they don't need to go first.

Big guys are fun, but it gets old only seeing Ogres. Make them more equal.

I think WA is good as it is; it definitely makes for wild, partly out of control players. It brings a risk, but the risk can be avoided, and when the player gets better, the risk actually gets less, which is great too!

Geeze, WA needs everything but to be fixed.

Mirascael: So Wild Animals without block are not very good players, but those with block are some of the better players in the game? Why are you opposed to a fix, exactly?

I considered that statement about WA-Big-Guys being useless as, well, ridiculous. The only proper fix would be that WAs shouldn't be allowed to dodge out prior to a Blitz-Block. WAs are good enough already (maybe even too good?) and shouldn't be made any better. Would be overkill IMHO.

Can they do that? I was under the impression that they had to Block an opposing-adjecent player before any other action could be considered.

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

This is in the BRCC rules review for 2003. I highly doubt it will be proven to be legal, but it's up to your own league to house rule it until then.

Eek! We'll play it like we do until we hear what the rule review finally decides.

Modest Proposal

If I remember it correctly, the section relevant here would allow teams a choice of a specific Big Guy, a specified ally or an extra Blitzer or similar position player. Most teams had at at least 2 of these 3 options.

I always liked the Modest proposal system and was sorry it never became official. If we skip the ally option it would give teams a choice of a specified extra position player or a Big Guy.

As bjOrn pointed out, if teams are balanced when using the standard positions (without Big Guys) then they should be balanced when Big Guys, weapons or any other feature are added. Ideally Big Guys should either be so bad that they are barely worth the cost or all teams should have access to a reasonable Big Guy or an alternative such as an extra position player.

Unless my brain has rotted over the last few months it was Chet's "Modest Proposal". Or Milo has made one too...

Thanks for quoting useless stats. I will admit in the right situation they are fine...when you have the game well in hand. Anyone can put a Mino out there when it's 3-0 and the other guy can only field 8 to your 11. Then the WA is just fine. I prefer the big guys out there when the game is on the line, not just racking up cas against a helpless foe. It needs to be fixed.

Mark Twain said there are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics.

You haven't played many games in fumbbl, have you?
These WAs almost play exclusively against other high AV basher teams, since most soft teams won't play against them.
These casualities (except for stunty-league ones) have been earned under really tough circumstances.

OK, FUMBBL is an online leage with rules changes from the LRB. No handicap table is pretty big. No challenges is big too, but most people don't realize it. I also just realized there are other teams too, Snots, Chaos Halflings :o , Skink?, etc... I have a problem with quoting one league as proof against something, especially if its not a real live league using current rules. Without spending all day going through game reports and studying opponants, I can't tell how they got so many SPPs. I know from personal experience that unless my team is already beaten, no one can pull a WA out against me and still win...unless I take him out. In our current league, as well as my previous 2, and several leagues I've seen in use, WAs are rarely used, almost never if theres a choice.

Snotlings, Chaos Halflings, and Skinks all play in a seperate league from the rest of the players...the Stunty Leeg.

As for the Mino with insane Cas (that's Pikachu, I bet...deathgerbil is a crazy man) I can tell you he got 'em all legitimately. :D He's trying to beat the old record of Grot Teef the troll...something like 112 Cas before he died. :P On a Goblin team. In the totally regular division of LRB teams.

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.
