That said, Galak, you think a 4 5 2 9 Ogre Blocker is less "Trollish" than a 4 5 1 9 Ogre Blocker? Have you looked at the 2nd Ed stats for Ogre Blockers and Ogre Blitzers? If I recollect properly, the Ogre Blitzers were more agile than the Ogre Blockers -- that's part of where I got the statline from.

Understood and agreed Milo ... but you ask anyone who doesn't know anything about 2nd edition what this is:

4/5/1/9 Really Stupid

Bet you $100 he/she says Troll. That said if you think AG 1 makes or breaks the player for you fine. As long as he stays with Big Guy but still has General access, the AG thing really is unimportant to me.

A Troll with Tich Skull without Regeneration and not that hungry.
What if Blockers and Blitzers were identical apart from MA and AG (all MB, TS, TTM, BH, BG)?

Ran the idea past Chet to get another BBRC side and he throught the Blocker was too Troll-like at 4/5/1/9 (and I didn't even mention my thoughts on this issue either) and that he'd back Milo and the TBB team if the lineman wasn't a Troll (he suggested 5/5/1/8 as an alternate stat line), but at a minimum he didn't want to see 4/5/1/9. I think I've said more than my piece. I thought the last roster I suggested mixed the best of Milo and Pariah's ideas ... at this point, if I'm wrong, just tell me what to use as long as its not the team in BB Mag #6.

I feel the same. I think the roster we came up with is fine. I could also be happy with minor tweaks to the blockers, but past that I think what we have done is leaps and bounds above the Mag#6 team.

I know we won't please anyone but I'll be so happy if this is the new experimental roster. So happy that I may even break my ban on GWUS and order the ogres.

I've had some correspondence off-line with this with Andy H.

He's too busy to check on the thread but thought it would be a good idea for any of you going to the BB Tourney to "collar" him at the bar with a pint to explain why the Ogre team needs to be revised.

There off you go! :o

I'd like to see the Blockers as AG1, as these guys should suck. If the trade off for AG1 is blockers all getting MB than I'd be happy at that.

Also not sure 70k for RR is enough if the Blitzers can use them, but I'm a lot (lot) happier with this list than with the BB Mag version.

Personally Dave it offends me (in a mild sort of way) that Andy doesnt think it needs revising at all. That he mite publish a team that needs experimentation i can understand, but it seems to me the dislike of the mag version of the ogres is far more disliked than either the Necromancer team or the Vampire teams.

Ogres - not Trolls

Post by MickeX »

Well then, how about 5 5 1 9 Ogre Blockers?

Fluffwise, I don't really see Ogres as "lumbering" like a Troll or Black Orc. I think of the normal Ogres as mostly just stupid and untalanted with the ball.

code]
0-12 Ogre Blocker 4 5 2 9 Really Stupid, Mighty Blow, TSkull, Big Guy
100k G/S
0-4 Ogre Blitzer 5 5 2 9 Bonehead, Mighty Blow, TSkull, TTM
120k G/S
0-4 Goblin Catcher 6 2 3 7 Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff
40k A
70k Rerolls
[/code]

I like the look of this new Ogre team. My feelings on the discussion are as follows:
I also believe that the Orge Blitzers should have the same stats as the standard freebootable Ogre. But I also think that rerolls should be available to the whole team - Ogres should have some sort of understanding amongst one another. The cost of the reroll may need to be higher than 70k if this is adopted though.
I don't like the title of Ogre Blockers to me they should be Rookie Ogres that have the stats 5 5 1 8(or 9) Bonehead, Mighty Blow, TSkull, Big Guy (cost?)
The title Blocker just doesnt seem to fit the stats given to the Ogre Blockers as they stand - no higher AV or Strength or Block skill over the Blitzers.

but even without the changes above I would be happy giving this team a run.

Maybe a good idea would be if Ogres could use rerolls, but couldn't buy them at the start of a league. That way they'll have to pay a lot for them (70000*2, or sot will represent a slow growth of a BB habit in their dim brains
