i started to play with games like speedball on Amiga.
and in the same time, i was with some friends and starting to play at
Lord of War, Space Crusade (still playing it sometime), space Hulk( too great!!) and i found this game on a store.
I was already iterested in US Football, so i buy it (first release of the 2nd Ed).
Playing it ever since.
And more and more since 3/4 years.

Hmmm.... lets see.... back in the late 80's.... probably about 87 or 88 I got a couple of free rule books from Games Workshop with an order of miniatures. One was a rule book for a Star Trek RPG and the other was the original 1st edition red rule book. With nothing but this rule book I built up a whole Blood Bowl league (just me an a friend playing multiple teams). I built my own cardboard pitch, initially used pieces of paper for the players, them moved onto using Warhammer miniatures (I only bought my first BB team after 3rd edition came out). I played this edition for 4/5 years until I wne tot university and discovered that the roleplaying society had a copy of 2nd edition BB. I promptly photocopied all the rules and immediately began learing to play this edition. Unfortunately there were no players around to play with - so I had to play as the coach of both teams.
Finaly when 3rd edition came out I bought my very first Blood Bowl box set and managed to get a league running in the shop. Since buying that 3rd editon box I have bought almost all the 3rd edition teams, the 1st ed box and 2nd ed box and a bunch of unofficial non GW BB teams. I have now built my own BB stadium and have more unpainted teams than I know what to do with. The toughest decision every season is to decide which team to play. I just can't play a team 2 seasons in a row.

I play Magic to stay in practice at a local game store. (I used to do the tournament circuit for the game).

My Magic Buddies and a few WFB fanatics started a BB league in the store. 25 coaches signed up including 2/3rds of my Magic opponents. They promised me a low cost game that would be a fun change of pace from our Magic games. The BB Compendium #1 had just come out, so I bought a BB boxed set, 1 WFB Vampire Lord, 3 WFB Vampires, and 3 Count Luthor and with my plastic human lineman from the boxed, I joined my first league which is where I also played my first game of BB.

2 years later. I sold all my Magic cards (about 5k worth) and dropped it pretty much all into my Blood Bowl collection ... never turned back.

Was playing D&D with a friend about 93 I guess.

He started up a small BB league in 2nd Edition.

My first game was my Dark Elves versus his Experienced Chaos team. At the end I had 5 dead Dark Elves and 3 more with serious injuries.

I've been playing as much as I can since then.

You've got quite a unique story Galak, i like it. 5k, now that's impressive. Not so much puting 5k on one game, but what impresses me more is throwing it all away and putting just as much money on a new one!

Thanks Zombie ... my mother in law thinks I'm an idiot for putting all the money from the first game into the second instead of spending it on things like furniture for the house when she found out how much I got for my Magic collection.

However, my wife said since I was playing Magic before I met here that the money I had spent on that game was mine to do with forever ... so moving it from one hobby to the next was the best way to keep it from becoming an end table ...

And just like your magic cards, you can probably sell the whole stuff for about the same price you paid for it, so it's not really an expense at all. That's what i like to tell myself anyway...

You mean I've been playing longer than the mighty Galak?

So, Galak, have you actually played 2nd edition?

Personally, I blame Count Zappa. He introduced me and a few friends to the game a few years back.

Heard about the game in 1989 from a friend that showed me an old 2nd Edition goblin.. Thought it was sooo cool as I loved fantasy stuff and American Football so it was the perfect match :)

Bought the game in the summer of 1990 in *coughs* Hamleys *coughs* in London and completely immersed myself in the fluff of it :)

I've always sucked at playing it however :/

About thirteen or fourteen years for me with. Lost my job (as did nearly everyone I knew around the time :smoking: Do you remember the recession? Don't you love Thatcher?not a political question....do not answer) so I bought Bloodbowl 2nd ed. Got back into it almost 4 years ago when they sold everything off at half price after a gap of 6 years. I picked up Bloodbowl for £10 and Deathzone for £15, then bought every team in games shops in the local area as they were all half price too. Only really play the game at tournements now, but thats where it's coolest. Especially with a beer :smoking:

They got a new GW store in the mall. I went in and checked out the battles they had going on and saw Blood Bowl. the manager said he had a league starting in a couple of weeks. So I took one trip around the mall and went back in and bought the boxed games and the starter paint set. The rest is history. Well if you call an 0-7 season history. I am proud of the paint job on my first team though. Got hooked and now I have 6 teams in my case. Can you say ADDICTED Oh ya that was only 2 months ago

Nice to see someone else misses them too. I hope they will add more fun team, player and statistics information in the furure. I doubt it, but hope they would...
