Throwing

Ok now that we have clarified that,
the trick would be to get rid of the term "pass".
Once we have done that we could give "pass" back its original meaning, namely the ball traveling from the thrower to the receiver.
Other valid options to throw the ball to would be an empty square or an opposing player - but as long as you throw it to a teammate it is a "Pass".
The term "Complete Pass" would be the ball beeing catched by the guy that was meant to get it... pretty logicall, isn't it?
Throw -> Catch Yes/No -> Complete/Incomplete
And since a completed pass is awarded a SPP you would have to live with the fact that the order of the series of dice rolls that got the ball where it should be is irrelevant. Its completed.
What I try to do here is to project a logical sequence of events; That requires as little looking up the rules as possible... And as a side effect what people call the "weakest of all agility skills" would gain a minor boost.

Chapter I: Throwing
"Once per team turn one player of the moving team is allowed to take one of the following throw actions".
1. Throw a Teammate
2. Throw a Bomb
3. Throw the Football
In principe a nice idea of getting this stuff together in one chapter. But where I come from most people actually throw a ball more often than a bomb or a teammate. Maybe 3. should be 1. then?
Just in case, you know...

But since you play undead a lot which don't have a thrower and diving catch only improves your thrower abilities your whole team is wasted anyway...
not very imaginative to play undead!

try diving catch next time!

I hope for you that the other half gets diving catch or otherwise your WHOLE team is wasted...Whats wrong with giving block to a catcher?? I'd quite happily and do give Block to at least half of my receivers. Then hopefully also one can pick up dauntless as well and you've got a turnover machine

anotherone who wastes a team.By default I'll give receivers block (or dodge if they don't already have it). Anything that helps keep them upright and on the field is a good skill.

His task was to deliver an accurate pass-and not to hope for anyone else to get him out of his misery. If you still have posession of the ball that's fair enough, I suppose! Maybe you should propose next time that the catcher gets a SPP for saving this situation...it's his skill after allnevertheless the guy has to get his well deserved starplayer point.

And my suggestion raises the propablitiy to get a SPP for a pass from 15.75% to 16.87% which is not even worth the time to actually discuss it.
So why did you bring this topic up if it's not worth the time, Toby???

Actually not everything is MORE fun just because suddenly there is a reward therefor. However, then maybe only long bombs should count, because catching a short pass this way is not really spectacular! But to ME the the game would be more FUN if a spectacular diving catch was REWARDED

Toby, when can we see your finished version of the rules?

I won some impressive titles in 198X, some more in 199X, even more impressive titles in 200X, some of them REALLY impressive, and a few even MORE impressive! Not to mention a lot of less impressive ones.

heh, I thought that was the most constructive thing he said.Dragoonkin wrote:I love Toby arguments. As soon as he realizes that (just like every other time) nobody agrees with him, we get winner quotes like this:
