Letting teams choose their MVP obviously favors black orcs, saurus, Chaos/Nurgle warriors. One of my least favorite house rules.

You are right, but ohh my god, does it take hundreds of hours of game-time to skill these guys up. So I see no problem in people getting fun things faster. We want people to choose Blood bowl over x-wing as an example, that only takes 1 hour per game.

The OP is a well respected member of the East Coast BB community. Highly doubt this is an elaborate troll.

Lots of shops are getting the books in early, you'll see more posts soon enough.

Grab has always been an under used skill, so it could need a boost, but would this make it OP?
It makes crowdsurfs much easier for sure and columb defence much more difficult (you blitz with grab and tak the opponent on one of your players.... maybe one with frenzy).

I sincerely don't see a change I deem positive. :pissed:

I see huge boosts for Orcs, Dwarves, CD and Lizardmen. :(
Prepare for the rule of AV9.... :puke:

AV9 does not rule NT/CRP+ leagues.

I don't think so, you still can't combine it with Frenzy or anything crazy like that. But I guess we won't know for sure until we play it :)

NT/CP+ rules have improved fouling that compensates, don't have chosen MVP (that helps AV 9 teams a LOT)....

And don't have the improved Grab.
I think it will take quite a bit for everyone to realize how much does it change.
This is big IMHO.

You can't combine it with frenzy on the same player.....
But against column defence I can blitz with grab and push on a frenzy player waiting..... maybe ready for a crowdsurf....

This changes column defence forever.

Eh?
Means you'll have to move your column 2 Squares back instead of just 1. Which may put some pressure on the column defense (hurrah, frankly), but surely won't ruin it...?

Front guy in column gets blitz-grabbed. Isn't pushed into anybodys TZ. Can't get surfed.

I'm super happy so far. MVP rule is likely to have a substantial impact on early development.

But I for one don't expect AV9 to rule all. Grab is nice(r), but will it be able to compete with the other power skills of the S-category? AV9'ers too will have lost something with the diminished power of PiOn.

Well, see....
I Wonder what else has been tweaked.
Interesting times indeed.

Cheers
Martin

IMO, this will have the biggest impact at early Development - where Chaos and Nurgle aren't particularly good (besides, Claw has been nerfed). Orcs are average (right?). Only thing that worries me a bit about this is the lizardman team. (Mind you, I know I could have missed something...)

Maybe it's called something else here, but for clarification, what is "column defense?"

I guess it's great for anyone who wanted dwarves, lizardmen and orcs to do better in leagues. It certainly seems like easier leveling and protection from Claw/PO will accomplish that.

I haven't found any of those teams to be mediocre in early league play, though that's only my observation of a few local leagues.
