I think your only problem is that your league hasn't realized how powerful fouling still is.
I play in mbbl, mbbl2, rabbl, pdhbbl, not to mention the (im assuming) pub league, and rebblskaven. The only league in which i have seen (in my games, im not about to scan other game files) any indication that fouls are powerful is in the rebblskaven league where av is low and all the teams are mean. That doesnt mean your data is false but it certainly does not apply to every league.

Been playing LRB rules for awhile now and I haven't had or seen any problems with Piling On. That said, I think I would prefer it before the armor roll, if it raises an issue about Diving Tackle I say make it before the roll too.
I honestly don't think it's much of an issue. Just haven't been clobbered by the Piling On mummies yet. Then again, I don't cry foul everytime someone developes a nasty player either.

Bloodbasher Masher wrote:I think that it is not a huge problem (yet) because a lot of the "Foul Warz" survivors are wary of having a player prone on the field. Nowadays, I am more worried about the players that are STANDING then the players that are prone :D
I think it's a credit to IGMEOY that an opposing coach has to weigh the risks of fouling a prone player enough that coaches choose to keep players down rather than to stand them up just to get blocked and knocked down with an AV roll.

When I started playing my most recent Welf team, I found myself shouting "Stay down!" like I was in some rigged prizefight. My opponents still keep a player tied up standing next to the prone player to force them to dodge when they stand up and try to move away. So, I'm still able to play a game of field position without having standing players.

Does this mean that fouling has become so risky that it's not being done, except to take-out built-up players? I think it is. Fouling has become a tactic not a gameplan. I don't understand (under LRB) how a coach can foul every turn, against any player, and expect to have players left to score TD's. It seems to me, the "Foul Warz" are over. IGMEOY works.

This trend of keeping players down has only increased due to PO players. I'd rather get fouled than blocked again by a ST5 MB PO player. It's not the timing and the lack of risk of a fouling war that bugs me. Fouling is on the decline overall. It's the dang +5!!!! Either limit it or turn it into a reroll. The timing is unimportant. The problem is the +5.

Welcome to the age of the "Piling On Warz".

Voted for before the AV roll. It makes sense in a games mechanic sense. As Zombie pointed out earlier you could still roll straight through the armour (without going down) or fail (ditto). I have seen Mummies fail the roll against AV8 before. It changes field position, which was always the real balancing feature. I would want my mummies up on their feet holding the line rather then injurying some line-sleb. If you go down only to roll 12 for armour then you are disadvantaged, as you should be. For that killing power you need to take alittle risk.

As Pariah said

This is called BLOOD Bowl people. Yes those players can hurt you. So run away, or foul them. The game is suppossed to be violent. My league (same as Icedmans) has been labelled as fairly tame on the latest fouling thread. And with regards to fouling that would be right. But in the hitting stakes we dish it out everywhere. 1 Mummy (the one without PO) got to 50 SPPs on Cas alone in about 15 games. You have to be willing to take some punishment to play this game. Hell its half the fun.

A mummy in your league got at least 3 skills without taking piling on, and you call your league violent? If a mummy doesn't take piling on as either its first or second skill (assuming no doubles), i'm calling the undead coach a pussy. Plain and simple.

... and as diplocatic as ever, Zombie.

I guess I have to live with being the vocal minority on this issue, for the time being. Hopefully PO will get changed to declare before in the next rules review.

maybe you'd just prefer to be able to use the mummy every turn instead of every other?

i like to have my st5 players standing on my opponent's turn. Makes em a lot more useful. i don't give pile on to mummies, and i don't like being called a pussy. i have reasons for what i do that all your happy little statistics don't take in to account.

so careful with the name calling.

ever heard of emoticons? they're little faces you put by text so people get whether you're kidding or not....see without them sarcasm doesn't always work so well on the internet since it's about tone and facial expression.

try it next time

I don't like emoticons. Besides, they make sarcasm too obvious, so it's not funny anymore.
