see roy, the point you're missing here is that _yes_ it is quite obvious to just about everyone who plays the game that the -man extension is incorrect... _however_ what we have been trying to impress upon you is that a) a decent portion of people already call their players by more appropriate names and there is nothing right or wrong about that and b) it isn't economically or logistically appropriate for gw to make such a change even if they did care, which they don't...
...we're just trying to talk you off the ledge, man, this really isn't that big of a deal...
base rings, on the other hand, _that_ is a topic worth coming to blows over

I AM doing base rings on my Skaven.
Roy - nothing personal dude. In most ways you ARE actually right and expressing a thought most of us have probably had on occasion.

Linemen are ok with me, even though I use the linerat or line-elf -names.
BUT. The fluff names gotta go!
Longbeards = linemen (=linedwarves)
Gutter Runners = Runners
Lion warriors = Catchers
etc. This is a football game, so the roster positions should reflect that!
And the base rings need to be painted!

agreed...but......
Gutter Runners = Skaven CATCHERS.
Just like the second ed. team. Stormvermin=Blitzers. I see the Skaven as very much a Passing team. I think of Runners more as a position that has developed on teams that don't throw a lot: Ghouls on the old Undead team, Dwarf Runners, Dark Elf Throwers (SHOULD be Runners with Sure Hands instead of Pass to start IMO...but thats just me.)

Hey look. I got some sympathy support.

I have to tell you all though, I think it's a little charming with the longbeards, zombies, skeletons, gutter runners, stormvermin.
I like it really. We could all use a little fluff. It's a fantasy football game, not just football game. The players usually have som nasty warhammer profession. Like Wardancers.
i just though, fluffwise, that lineman was boring, and lineelf sounds alot better.
But as earlier posted, It's not a big deal. I don't really want to make a huge deal out of it.
I'll just keep calling my line postition players lineelves.
You can all do what you feel like.
Let this post be to inspire others to do the same, if they like the idea.

Longbeards aren't linemen! Sure they're the bottom of the roster but they're far superior to any lineman around, except elves maybe.Mestari wrote:Longbeards = linemen (=linedwarves)
Damn I hate Dwarves. Gimli hitting all that Elven fluff. Elves are so fickle. How come there's no strawberry soap in the stores? Mine disappeared.
I need help.
