Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!

I can't see how declaring before AV will make "much" difference to ST5/6/7 players (there again I did pretty much miss out on 3rd and 4th ed).

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Notice the "much". Of course I can see the difference, but a ST6 Orge is gonna fail his PO never against AV7 and only 1/36 against AV8. Not much difference between declare before and after is it?

the thing is does id it puts the on the ground even if they roll a 12 on the armour roll, where as now they woudl still beat the armour and then be able to block again next turn cause they wouldn't have had to use piling on
In that case, add another vote to "declare before the AV"

It is definitely an overpowering skill that should be changed. Any team with multiple ST4 players or more is deadly if two or more players have it. If multiple players have it and use it then they are only going to use it when it will break the AV obviously. Therefore best case you'll have two stunned players that are effectively out of it for the next turn and maybe the next as well. Yes he puts two men on the ground for me to foul one of em but that foul is using a player to respond to my opponents actions not always where I need him most. Also my foul is not guarenteed to break armor and may result me losing a player for the entire match. Say I break his armor then i am most likely only stunning with a decent chance of KOing the opposing player. I'm supposed to risk losing a player just to take one of his out for a turn with a small chance of taking him out of the game permanently?
Here's our situation...
Our first league ran mistakenly ran it before the AV roll. Out Lizardman player took it as the second skill for four of his six saurus warriors. It was devasting but not crippling becuase it wasn't a guarenteed causualty. Then we reread the wording and found out the LRB says that it's supposed to be after the roll.
Now second season he can crush teams. he can break your team to the point where it is not fun. In a recent game with him I lost 5 orcs to him 2 dead and 3 SI'd. The game went into overtime and after he had broken away his skink with the ball he proceeded to target my star players with PO/MB and fouls if he did not hurt them. Three turns of this as he whittled away my team and his skink sat on the goal line. I lost two to KO and Three to Causualty in that over time (including one of the deaths).
I have 9 Av's for the most part and he crippled me.
BEFORE THE AV ROLL PLEASE - after the AV roll makes it an essential skill to the Lizard team for clearing the board with their 6 MA. 3MA is respectable after standing up.
Do not read into this that I am saying lizards are broken/overpowered/cheesey/etc. They are not. It is an interesting team that has great strengths and great weaknesses.
