Would anyone like to see a (not necessarily online before everyone jumps on my back) a Championship Manager type game for BB?

For those who don't know, Championship Manager is a successsful series of Football (Soccer for you Americans) Management games were you coach you team to glory (or not!).

As not all of us have a regular table-top league or play by email, I just wondered wheter other people thought it might be a good thing.

We have an old thread about a BB CM but I can't find it :(

I guess this thread has been put in archives, but I don't know how I should dig out this.

I can remember that anthony, in a toipic with our big online play toby (toby ? toooooooooby ???), told us ha has worked sometimes on a championship manager like for BB... But I guess the developpment of it has been stopped, especially these last weeks ;)

I would like to see it put in the old world, where a true pub league club (da grummmmzzz boyz> Telford united) should become a truly big club, like Orcland raiders (manchester united), or reikland reavers (arsenal fc) are...

I did start such a game, I have it around here somewhere. My goal was to make it an online game that you could play with friends. I'd still like to do it but I'm not exactly sure how I want to handle the game mechanics. I did put together a bit of it already though.

Why don't you try to put it online? We could take a look and provide some suggestions. Even in an early stage, could be interesting to look at.

All I got done was the start of the team selection screen I think, I just started working on it out out of the blue one day. I really have to sit down and plan it out. I will try and put up what I have so you can see it.

I've been playing Championship Manager for years, and it is the only game in my home PC which persists for years, and one of the few i buy from time to time ..

My current savegame features UD Las Palmas, from the Spanish League, trying to get to the Euro Champs, in year 2012!!!

LOL, I thought I had at least a little bit more, but oh well. At one point it went another screen in and let you set up your team, I guess I will have to figure out how this is gonna work and start on it sometime soon.

Anyways, here is the link:

BTW, I think I saved it as Flash 6 so you might need to upgrade your plugin if you haven't already.

Wonderful... really wonderful...
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

It reminds me a card from DeathZone (3rd edition): this guy has talent (not sure the trnaslation is correct) !!!!

I was thinking about making a "specific" update for the current Championship Manager, but I'm nearly sure that by usinfg the tolls you can find on www.thedugout.net it will crash my game definitively. Not because there are not good tools, but because of my knowledge in these ;)

Anthony: do you think it should be possible to make this specific update including:

> Heroic-fantasy names
> new money (gold pieces)
> new "nationalities" (orcs, skavens, ...)
> more injuries (to represent it will be a brutal sport).
> new organisaiton (a cup, maybe an international cup, and a championship, of course)

.... and I forgot some important points, sure.

I'm not really sure how much you can change in CM, I haven't really played that one very much. I have played some older ones, actually one of my favourites was the Manager mode in Speedball 2. It was pretty simple but a lot of fun.

ohhh you play speedball 2 too.... :?: Hope you will find time to think about a manager software...

About CM all you can modify with the current tools is nationality (french > canadian), stats of your player, date of birth, ...

I remember I saw some times ago a software that allows you to make your own tool in order to modify the game... And there was a list with all nationalities, for example... SO I guess it should be possible to add some "nationalities (orcs, skavens, ...). But there are 2 others problems: you would have to make a specific game (unless you want to see a match between Real Madrid and Orcland Raiders ;) ), and it still will be CM, after all ;).

PS Timun, my last savedgame was a game with coaching Brazil, and ... erm... Atletico Madrid. :D

My team in 2007/2008 was Frey- Sorin, Hofland, Ferdinand, Zauri - Van Der Vaart, Riquelme, Bowyer - Robben, Torres or Roque Santa Cruz, Aghahowa.

Soory for this completely off topic sentence ;)
