Building the Ultimate Blood Bowl Player...

Has anyone ever given any thought to what form the ultimate Blood bowl player might take?

Supposing you could have any one (Living Rulebook-approved) player make it to 'Legend' status on your team, i.e: 176+ SSP's, which one would you choose, and what would be your dream choice of skills/traits/characteristic increases for that player?

Lets say that the player manages to avoid the affects of each ageing roll successfully, retains all the skills they initially came with, and you can choose the 2D6 result on each of the seven star player rolls.

Big guys can be picked also, but obviously not the star players.

Would be interesting to see what everyone reckons would be the greatest player of all time, their stats, and what they consider to be the ultimate skills combo for that player...

On a similar note, what proportion of players actually ever make it to legend status within well established, well balanced leagues? Or are these guys merely myths? (they're certainly a distant dream in my fledgling league of newbies!)

Loco Longbeard!

6 4 3 9 Block, Tackle, Thick Skull, Dodge, Nerves of Steel, Mighty Blow

Rock on! That boy's got talent!

Chaos Warrior

6 5 4 9 Block, Dodge, Claw, Razor Sharp Claw

Quick enough, agile enough and tough enough that there's not much he can't do, except score in one turn. Easily capable of scoring touchdowns, while inflicting maximum pain along the way.

I could probably think of many more, but this one kinda sticks out in my mind.

Wardancer

10 5 5 7 Block, Dodge, Leap, Tackle, Strip Ball

Your opponent won't be able to hold the ball for long with this player on your side.

I love your Wardancer

Maybe I would put Sprint instead of another skill ? Just in order to make it a "one turn scorer" ;)

I'd take that wardancer, but instead of 10 MA I would take 9 MA and shadowing. This way, he'll be all over the ball carrier!

You left out the 8 niggles that guy will pick up from being fouled every game ;)

That'd pretty much be my pick for ultimate player as well.

What about exchanging +1MA for +1AG? For those pick-up attempts?

Wardancers, anyhow, have the best starting point to become the ultimate blitzers.

But as a blocker, a Dwarven lineman would go to:

4 5 2 9 Block,Tackle,TS,Guard,StandFirm,MightyBlow,Dodge,Break Tackle

I wouldn't complain if I had one of these either

PS. Talking of Star Players, methinks me just became one

That longbeard is rather one sided toward blocking don't you think? He said the "ulimate" player. He's gotta be able to handle the ball! lol

Umm... why?

but seriously:
I see your point on what is an ultimate player. Apparently people agree that blitzer as a player type is the ultimate bb player type. And I can't say I disagree.
However, I'd rather define ultimate players in a certain position.
That wardancer sure makes the best blitzer around, but that longbeard is one nasty blocker. A Wood Elf thrower in turn would probably make the best thrower around etc.

True. I'd like to see that longbeard on D vs. that wood elf. lol

I would go for a Ork Blitzer.

7449
Block, Dodge, Sure hands, Leap, Strip ball.

Hen can score in 2 turns with out GFI. He can retain the ball against Stripball players, he can allways get to the ball and he has a fair chance of knocking it loose.

Seems like a god one.

Those players sound great, though sometimes one has to work with what one has.

Zippy Hands - Goblin Lineman
7 2 3 7 Right Stuff, Dodge, Stunty, Sidestep, Block, Catch, Leap, Sprint

It's nice to see teams having to set up in fear of just him. Though we've had moments when an entire 8 players fouled him just to get him off the field. (And he's been spiked 4 times in one game.) Now all I am praying
for is an AG increase for the last skill, provided the competition in the TBBF doesn't finally kill him. :smoking:

I agree with the wardancer, but how about a bull centaur for a change?
Bull centaur 6 6 4 9 Thick skull, Sprint, Sure feet, Block, Dodge, Stand firm

As for a blocker, how about this one?
Mummy 3 7 1 9 Regeneration, Mighty blow, Block, Pilling on, Multiple block, Tackle, Break tackle

Chaos warriors can also make great players:
Chaos warrior 5 6 5 9 Block, Claw, Razor sharp claw
or
Chaos warrior 5 6 5 9 Block, Tackle, Tentacles

Even a gutter runner can become pretty impressive:
Gutter runner 11 4 5 7 Dodge, Block, Leap

But yeah, you're right, the wardancer is better. Mine would look like this though:
Wardancer 10 5 5 7 Block, Dodge, Leap, Sprint, Strip ball

None of you are giving your CW's both Pilling on and RSC? Man, it's almost an auto-casualty. ;)

Hmm, how about this one...?

Gutter Runner: 10/4/5/7, Dodge, Big Hand, Leap, VLL? 1-turn scorer, could leap into a pile of players, and dodge out with the ball. Doesn't have block, so maybe he's not the best well rounded, but I'd be scared of having to score 8 TDs to win against a guy like this...

Additionally, if he's in the open, he needs a 3+ to intercept the ball!

Or how about these...?

Halfling: 7/4/5/7, Dodge, Stunty, Right Stuff, Block

Troll: 4/5/3/9, Mighty Blow, Thick Skull, Regenerate, Really Stupid, Always Hungry, Throw Team-Mate, Leap, Diving Catch, Sure Hands, Catch, Dodge? The offensive power-house every troll dreams of being. ;)
