Team Balance

In which way is determined that the current teams are balanced?

I ask this because, if you say that the initial teams are balanced at TR 100, than a dwarven team will be unbalanced in comparison to an elven team when that hits TR 200, because the dwarven team won't have nearly as much SPP's as the elves.

If you argue that they are balanced at TR 200, I'll say: "Both teams will almost never have that rating at the same time".

Is there anyone who can give an answer to this question?

On paper maybe, but you should look at the balance over the course of a game. A Dwarf team may not have as many skills but it will have a lot more durability.

Yea, that's wha I think too: I just started a dwarf team and they practically 'ave no skills at all. Chaos is better off skillwise. Durability maybe, but we'd need skills to make it

First skills on elves though just make them competitive. First skills on Dwarves make them stand out.

Compare a 1 skill lineelf (block) with a 1 skill longbeard (block, tackle, thick skull, guard).

The teams are not evenly balanced over the long stretch but they're as balanced as they're going to get I think. Unless there is a 50+ TR difference I never really find myself saying "I just couldn't compete against that team"

Our second season just ended, 14 games plus 3 round playoffs.
The woodelves dominated badly. They lost 1 game cuz of special play cards and won the championship. It was amazing that I scored for the 1st time against the team ever halfway through the season!!!! We stood a chance in the begining but now all our team ratings are around 200 they are totally unstopable.
Seems like no balance here at all.

I hate to sound snooty about the woodelf situation, but that can probably be solved with the right coaches. I can see why they score on you a lot, what with the high MA, AG and passing game. But you should be able to score on them, and kill a bunch of them at the same time. They're AV7 and really expensive. When they kick to you, form up a loose cage (not the standard 5 cage, but one with 7 players, there are threads about it on the site, search for loose cage). Then beat the crap out of them. Foul them, blitz them, push them out of bounds. Even high or dark elves can do this against the woodies. You might not win, since you would only score 1 or 2 points, but you might, since you could get them down to 4 or 5 players. I've seen it happen.

The basic 15 teams are pretty balanced in the long run. Some teams play better out of the box, but some have better advance potential. What makes the big difference is coaching skill.

Also sounds like you are using 3rd edition still ... special play cards are the hint here.

The aging rules help slow Wood Elf teams now ... if you are not using them they could have helped as well.

I've said on another thread that well coached woodies are awesome in 3e once developed. The toning down of Leap (and to a lesser extent, Diving Tackle) are huge factors in pegging them back.

To me, the biggest drawback by far to the woodies since 4th ed is making hand off an action just like pass, that must be done at the end of a player's turn. It completely destroys the passing game they had before and makes it twice as hard (which doesn't say much as it wasn't all that hard before, but still) for them to score.

Agreed, had a huge impact on Skaven as well.
