A different approach on ageing effects

I think it could be handeled this way:

Ageing is rolled before the Star Player Roll. If the Player ages, then one (or maybe even the only) result is the player loosing his Star Player Roll.

What i like about ageing is limiting players from becoming "too good", therefore reducing the number of skills in a match leading to less complex gameplay and more playing speed.

What i don't like is that the development of a player becomes unforseen (luck). That cuts the long term strategy part, i dislike that completely.

On the contrary. I like it when my players develop in unforseen ways. It makes me have to think about what direction to give them. For example, a dark elf blitzer who rolls +1ST but gets -1AG will probably become a real blitzer, instead of a catcher like the other ones on the team. When a player gains +1 stat and loses it on again at the same level up, i don't hesitate a second and just fire him. Now that's boring.
