A different approach on ageing effects

I think it could be handeled this way:
Ageing is rolled before the Star Player Roll. If the Player ages, then one (or maybe even the only) result is the player loosing his Star Player Roll.
What i like about ageing is limiting players from becoming "too good", therefore reducing the number of skills in a match leading to less complex gameplay and more playing speed.
What i don't like is that the development of a player becomes unforseen (luck). That cuts the long term strategy part, i dislike that completely.
