Are there a set of sort of "standard" rules for tournaments? GP ? Parings? Tourney setup and such?

Not as such, scorings systems vary. I used to think that a standardized tourney ruleset would be 'a good thing'. Now I'm the in total opposite camp, love the different flavour that variety provides.
Swiss format is (rightly) pretty popular though. A lot depends on the size.
Are you looking for suggestions? There's a few tried and tested systems I could point you towards.
The NAF will be helping out with this kind of thing.

There's a site somewhere with the rules used for the Dutch Open

Lucy or Norse might know that one, I don't actually

The LRB has a section called TOURNAMENTS, starting on page 46... :)

I think that the rules are made with play-offs, or a cup, in mind, wich doesn't mean that you cann't make a league...

If you have a small group of dedicated players I guess the best is go to a league, in wich each team players each other twice... starting with 8 or more you can think of divinding the teams in 2, or more, groups, and make a final, or 2 semi-finals at the end....

If you're luck enought to have a large number of dedicated players then a system like the Soccer World Cup (or Champions league) should work very well.... but, as far as I know, in large groups it's hard to have 100% comited coachs, and then perhaps the sugestion from the LRB be the best (a kind of "free" swiss system)....

Finally, if your group is small and you think the best is a league... you can allways make also a Cup, wich can bring some funny things... first, if your coachs are willing you can let them create "Cup only" teams... even if they haven't the right figs, this way they can test another team, and, if the Cup starts after some 2 rounds of the league a team wich is doing bad there can allways hope to be against one of those rockies "Cup only" teams....
Besides Cup finals, or semi-finals, are going to be the only place to find Star PLayers, I guess.... and you still can use it to test some rules (like Kicking, if you don't use it in the league)...

So there isnt really a "standard tourney format" ?

Like for 40k and WFB there are somewhat "standard" Point Values and such as well as standard tourney regulations and such.

BB just doesnt really have that from what im gathering.

Thanks for the helpful input either way :)
