The New Rulebook

Post by Redfang »

I bought the new BB handbook at a convention two weeks ago, for 20 euros, and I was a bit disappointed.
There's absolutely nothing new in the book (already new that from the living rulebook though), but the main problem I have with it is that the Amazon, Norse and Lizardmen teams are not yet in it!

I mean, sure they were posted in the 2001 Annual (which I did not buy because that thing was really overpriced for nothing new), but since this book was made after that, they could have put them in, so that this handbook would (at this moment) really be up to date just as the LRB!

Did more people out there buy the handbook? What do you think of it?

Hmm hope you got the right one as its supposed to be the LRB but in print, which means all the teams should be there

I bought it and although I haven't combed it page by page against the LRB, that wasn't why I bought it. I just wanted to have the majority of the rules in one place rather than different bits of paper that fall out of folders all the time.

I like it.

Does your rulebook have anything else missing? Is it otherwise exactly like the LRB?

voyagers_uk: Does your version lack the three teams too?

I'd really like to know what I'm buying if I decide to buy it. If it is lacking too much I wont' buy it. I can always print the LRB if I want the rules in one place. The rulebook would be nice, but if it doesn't have anything, then what's the point?

Yeah Dave, they had it at spellenspektakel (I was there on saturday) at the GW-stand.

The handbook does contain a lot of background that's not in the LRB, but that's just copied from the old handbook/deatzone. There is some extra background (I think) such as the introduction on referees from BBMag 4 a.s.

I had already printed the LRB however and had gone to a copy shop to get it glued into a booklet with nice plastic covers and all, so I didn't have a lot of papers that were falling apart...

I would also like to know if the rulebook is totaly up to date with the LRB. I would like to get one, but only if it is worth it. Could one of you guys who have the rulebook please compare it to the LRB and give us a verdict?

Just got an email from the Fanatic mailing list, Jervis says:
There seems to be a little bit of confusion about the recently published
Blood Bowl Handbook. This new set of rules replaces the old Blood Bowl and
Death Zone books in the new boxed edition of Blood Bowl. It is *based* on
the living rulebook that can be downloaded for free from the Blood Bowl
website. There are some minor differences between the two, the main one
being that the three 'new' official teams - Lizardmen, Amazons and Norse -
are not included in the book.

Note that this does NOT stop them being official Blood Bowl teams, just that we decided not to include any new teams in the Handbook.

We took this decision partially because we couldn't fit the three new teams
into the living rulebook as there simply wasn't room for them. Books are
printed in (preferably) 16 page chunks, and you need enough material to fill those pages
He also says they plan to bring out one new team a year, the team list looks pretty complete now, is there much that could be added by way of teams that would be different to what we already have?

Saw it on GW web store online... £15, and £50 for the game released... God, a little bit pricey!

BBH is different

Post by Babs »

Just letting you know that I have my Handbook and there appears to be some significant differences to the LRB 1.3 and the Handbook.

For example, the Skills & Traits table ony have 3 entries in the LRB (page 37) but has 11 entries on p36 of the BBH.

There are many others, mainly appearing to be formatting (tables in different places, etc.)

The Amazon, Norse and Lizardmen teams are _NOT_ in there - which is completely crazy!!!!!!

Most important question is are there any changes in key rulings. That would be a real PITA. Time to start combing through I guess =/
