Hi just a quick question:
Where I live we are only two playing BB right now, any ideas of how to run a league with only two players??
Like we are going to have three or four teams each but how do we make sure we don't get to meet our own team in the semi final or in the final??

Your best option is probably to do like the Wodell boys do. Have eight teams between the two of you, and play them at random each round.
You don't get a winning coach, but with only two of you that isn't really a huge problem.

Contact Deathwing and Longfang if you have any questions.

Er 20 teams actually. 2 divisions of 10. Just pull the teams randomly from a cup to see who plays who. Check the Wodell web site for details.

You could divide your teams into 2 divisions or conferences.
All of your teams are in Conference A and the other coaches teams are in Conference B. Then you play all of his teams with all of your teams, and the teams in each conference with the best record get to play in the final.
So if you both have 3 teams then

Conference A would be:
Your team A
Your team B
Your team C

and Conference B would be:
His team A
His team B
His team C

so just play off
Your team A vs His team(s)A,B,C
Your team B vs His team(s)A,B,C
Your team C vs His team(s)A,B,C

and the best team of yours makes it to the final against the best team of his.

Sounds like a good idea Imp, (not that the others are bad, it's just alot of teams :o ).
I guess we'll have to live without the semi-finals then...

We played one league with three teams each (two players)

Each player had a preference in his team. Team A, B and C

If my team A played my team B, my opponent would play team B If team B played team C, he'd play C

I would allways play team A

Untill now we havn't had two teams from one player in any play offs. We did in a cup semi final and still played very much on the edge.

Many a player has been killed by a team that actually has the same 'owner' if you like.

It worked very fine for us and still gives you a lot of identification with the teams you play. Obviously most with the number A team but that's plain obvious.

I need to say that my team A hardly is a team anymore, but they're still A for me (GO WOOD ELVES !!!)

We thought of playing with each others teams but dropped it again, because we didn't want to play with other teams than our own (IMO it takes away some of the fun)...

This all serves to remind me that I must get my local league back on track and that we really don't need more than a handfull of players to have a league. That said, if any of you are in Johannesbug this holiday (as if) give me a call and you would be most welcome to have a game with us!!!

And while I am thinking about small leagues, I used to run a league that had just 2 players... until my buddy moved to another town (this is about 12 years back so it was 2nd ed) and as I had no-one else to play I just continued playing the league as both coaches... lol
It is amazing how smoothly a league can go when you are in total control! :) I used to write reports of every game and send them to my buddy as a monthly BB magazine... Now that was dedication... I still have copies of those mags and I read them from time to time, which is always good for a laugh.
