I went into the portsmouth store and i was told that you can only get the boxed team sets and blister packs via mail order and they won't be stocking them. He also told me that you can't get the boxed game with the new rulebook inside. Seeing as you can buy this from mail order that was completely wrong. It might have had something to do that they still have copies of the old box sets with the unupdated rules for £50. Personally I think this is just so that they can sell of the old copies without reducing the price. They also had some seperate new handbooks on sale seperatly, I do believe these were meant to only be available from mail order.

To be honest I am not amused by this. Its forcing me to have to pay postage costs for stuff i want. So much for support in the stores for the specialist games.

I can't really say about UK stores, but here in the States we've got both the boxed set (with the new Handbook) and some of the teams on the shelves already. Since last Saturday, actually. Also, the blisters for the Khemri team were up as well. It seems odd that the UK stores would be getting the short end of the stick, but who knows?

Well, here in Canada, we don't have the BB bos set yet and they are not sure when it is going to arrive! I was under the impression that the re-release date for the US and Canada was the same, obviously not! :pissed:

GW, BloodBowl and Mailorder

Post by BigD »

Folks, you need to remember the way GW works. The stores are pretty much all just franchises so they stock just the main items. They can of course get the other stuff in but its up to the Manager himself. At least thats what I've been told by my local GW store. And you can't blame them, from a business point of view you don't want stock sitting on the shelves that doesn't move at all or is slow in selling. You need high turnover, profitable stock which is why most stores will do the magazines and W40K but not the 'specialist' stuff.

And GWUK does have 95% of the US stuff available. We've had Khemri here for quite some time along with the bulk of the other figures. There are however some items missing and are no longer available through GWUK. If you're looking for Skeletons for your Undead Team then your only choices are Ebay or GW-USA, GW-AU or GW-Ca. You'll also find the Kroxigor and Silibili aren't listed either but are available from GW-USA and showing on their site as well.

You definitely need to look around. Otherwise getting lucky on the phone with a GW staff member helps as well. Sometimes you get a good Troll who actually knows the product and will sell you something they're not supposed to. I've been lucky myself that way LOL

I bought the new box set. The published rule book has the "Kroxigor" listed with the other Big Guys, and it has a star player listed that can only play for the Lizardmen team, but yet it does not list the Lizardmen as one of the offical teams. Since the Lizardmen Team is in the LRB 1.3, would it have been that hard for GW to include the team in the new published rule book? :pissed: Why bother including the Kroxigor if you are not going to have a team for him to play on.

By the way, when will the Kroxigor get Mighty Blow like the rest of the ST5+ Big Guys?

You obviously aren't subscribed to the fanatic newsletter explaining all of this. The book is done in 16 page blocks and the 3 teams missing will go on one page thus leavig 15 blank pages left to fill up, which would also make it cost more.

Seeing as I use the LRB anyway I aint bothered.

And you must buy any line of bulls**t GW sells you.

You don't need to add 16 more pages just to get those teams in there. I was in printing for more than 7 years and a 16 page tab can be bumped to 18 or 20 very easily with very little effect on the cost.

No, I am not subscribed to that BS news letter. I was but the few that they remembered to send out seemed to always be the same thing. Apologies. I'm not impressed with Fanatic. I blame GW for doing it half-assed. I don't blame Fanatic itself.

Having worked for GW (albeit a while back), the UK stores are (as far as I know) all Corporate shops and not franchises. The managers running them would never have the money to buy a franchise. It is a shame that the stores don't carry BB blisters or teams and are giving bogus information.

It may be as you say because they have old stock to shift. it may also be becasue the manager simply doesn't know. Most managers are not hardened BB fans and don't take advantage of access to the amount of info we have through forums such as these.

Maybe GW will eventually realise once more the potential in BB and stock it properly. The way the tournament sold out and sales of the new box/handbook should help.

Thing is with most companies like this, you get the division who are into the games, then you get the busniess people who restrict stuff.
