warhammer live notes

For those that didn't catch the BB stuff on warhammer live yesterday these are the highlights I picked out

*Doom Lords pitch should be July
*No release date on Dark Elf stuff ("next few months"). I think i caught a hint that the assassins would be around a month after the box. They were discussed in terms of Dark Elf have assassins whereas other teams have a big guy so from that I think it will be just assassins and not a booster with a couple of blitzers.
*Dark Elf box set will include alternate witch elf hand and an alternate lineman head.
*no specific indication of a planned booster for dark elves, though there was general talk of teams getting boosters
*Human booster and alternate troll shown as was Roxanna, Swift twins and Eldril. These will also be next few months.
*There will be an Orc booster - but will be to 2 black orcs, 1 blitzer and 1 thrower...(this sounds like it will be further down the line)
*A Helmut Wolf model is being worked on - sounds like he will be one of the next stars made available
*Sounds like an intention for there to be a BB specific Scyla model as Andy noted that the existing model is a little too big for the BB pitch
*a Gobbler Grimlich is being worked on as it caught the imagination of one of the sculptors (I didn't catch the name)
*There was some alternate minatour artwork that may be used for a Grashnak model
*In general it felt like an intention to get models out for most, if not all, of the star players...though it did feel as if the process was more sculptor being inspired and asking to take on a model rather than we need this model - design it approach (which to me implies they will be a little scattergun in release order but should hopefully show more creativity)
*Karla was specifically mentioned as being a model that people would like to see. There was a brief talk of her being a strong female character so it makes me wonder if it may be a direction for some future new star players.
*The intention is to get to 10 star players for each team *but* that is not a hard cap and it may be in time some teams may have more added (though it came across as if some teams may have 10, others may have 11 or at a stretch 12 rather than bigger discrepencies)
*recruitment still on-going for the specialist team

This was what I feared all along. Why do they insist on this rule to require including every position in the booster pack, and having a maximum of 4 models?

Orcs NEED 2 additional black orcs and blitzers. The alternative thrower sculpt is not a priority what so ever. It is less important than cheerleaders!

Now this would just be insanely expensive to get those 2 extra blitzers.

And by abiding to this rule of theirs, they'll make the same damn mistakes for the rest of the teams:

Humans: 2 Blitzers, 1 Thrower, 1 Catcher (well we wouldn't need 4 catchers, but I'd much prefer it over 3 throwers!)
Dark Elves: 1 blitzer, 1 witch, 1 runner, 1 assassin

I mean, this is almost as useless as not including all the positionals in the box in the first place.

I'd have preferred two Black Orcs and two Blitzers, but I'm not really surprised. Still, practically this just means I need to beg a single Blitzer from some leaguemate who bought the boxed set. Not the end of the world.

As long as the Human booster has two Blitzers, I don't really care what the other models are ;)

If you beg a blitzer, then you'll have 3 mono-pose blitzers? You mean to borrow or to keep? Cause if you borrow, the model will probably have a different paint scheme also.

If people are not worried about duplicate sculpts, surely they could have replaced a thrower for a blitzer. If people are concerned about sculpts (at least this includes me, having 2 human teams and 2 orc teams unfinished since 2016), then they could have replaced the thrower for a blitzer also.

For humans, I guess I can accept not having completed them since having 4 catchers is not really recommended. For orcs, I'm wondering if I'm gonna buy 2 booster packs or not. Probably end up buying 2 to get all the blitzers.

Yeah, plan A was to trade my humans for my buddy's Orcs and get 4 (identical) models of each position. A year ago, I heard a rumor that they were making a booster pack so I waited instead ;)

So 3 of one blitzer, a fourth of another, isn't ideal but it's not the end of the world. Maybe I can try to re-pose it a bit, although the BB2016 models are sadly kind of difficult to modify.

I already have my whole team painted except for 2 missing Blitzers and Black Orcs. Current plan is to buy the booster pack, do what it takes to get a 4th Blitzer, paint them, done :-D

Could well be a plan to gouge money. I reckon just convert the 4th.

Thanks for the heads up Skitters!

Wow, taking longer than I thought it would with the Chaos Pitch and Delves. That's ok, gives my wallet a small break.

I'm guessing it's too late to switch and make 2 BOBs and 2 Blitzers in the booster pack? Hopefully future boosters will be smarter, and be made of plastic.

not sure much of it is really news to be honest, but the enthusiasm for BB seemed palpable.

Note thst there were no images of the Orc booster and I've seen on reddit someone suggest that the orc booster was hopefully mixed up with the human booster....but I thought it was pretty clear about including a thrower [so much so I got an odd look and was asked if I was okay when I uttered a loader than intended "oh no"!]

I guess from a sculptors perspective having three different positionals to design may be more appealing than two (and throwers in particular can be a dynamic position): so I wonder if the positional choice is partly aimed to "sell" it to the sculptors who I get the impression do them around their normal work load in a similar way to star players

That's my point, they won't! They have established this pattern of always including 1 of each positional, and so far they're strictly following this "rule". I'm not see how they're going to make any exceptions to it. Also, FW will always be resin.

I can't think of any other team aside from orcs who will be really hurt by this.

Only Orcs and Humans have 3 different positionals and 2 of those options be 0-4. Human catchers suck, so it is pretty rare to see teams with 3 much less 4 of them.

All the other races have either only a single 0-4 choice or less than 3 positionals. So elfs could have 2 unique catchers to bring them up to 4 and then a different thrower and blitzer sculpt. Whilst Nurgle would have 2 Warriors and 2 Pestigors as they only have the 2 positionals.

The only other race I could see having an issue is Dark Elves, but it appears there will be a pack of 2 assassins available separately. Norse might possibly be an issue as the starter team would only include 4 linemen if you went full positionals. So that might have to have the ulfwereners as a separate pack too.

It sounds a lot better when you put it like that.

Putting the 2 Assassins in a booster was a smart move, as a number of Dark Elf coaches skip them too. The Blitzers and Witch Elves are more important.

10 star players per race? :?: Is it blood bowl or rugby then?
There should be 11 players on the pitch

Okay, I'll just ignore it and paint some extra linemen's bases green and red instead. Thanks for saving my money FW guys. :orc:
